Avery just sent out an email to their email list about tickets going on sale today for their first IPA fest. I'm sure it's not going to be as crazy popular as Sourfest, but in light of the sale speed of that and GABF, I got on my horse with these tickets.

Avery throws classy festivals with nice representation on breweries people actually want to try. This may be the first one, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, and I bet it will be awesome. It's also the cheapest fest they've thrown at $35/ticket. Chex it:

They don't really do advance lineups, but at this price, the surprise is going to be part of the fun for me. With this and Falling Rock doing their Fresh Hop Fest again this year, it's going to be a hoppy month.

It's pretty hard to be the standard offerings as it is, are we talking Stone Ruination 10th? Super IPA? Heady Topper? Pliny?

I just went to Avery's Anniversary. I have to say, if i hadnt of bought the VIP ticket and used all 10 tabs on the barrel beers, I would have felt ripped off.
The regular ticket got you 5 of their standard off the shelf from anywhere beers. The BBQ was good, but not worth the $. My wife had that ticket and she drank 1 beer and then sipped off mine. We ended up giving the rest of her tabs away.

With a $35 ticket fee, you would think they would break *something* noteworthy out. Not so with the Anniversary party. I'll be skipping any future events unless Im told specifically what theyll have ahead of time.

I'll see if I can dig it up but I saw a list of breweries that were going to be there.

FYI, looks like it's (16) 4-oz pours, so ~5 beers

While not technically an IPA, would be great if they brought some Row 2/Hill 56

I just bought a pair, I am sure it will be cool. My dad loves IPAs so I know he will thoroughly enjoy himself.

the avery fests are always a good time and they do a great job of bringing in hard to find beers from a variety of breweries. many of which aren't available in colorado. i'm there. hoping to see some familiar faces there as well.

Plus more. This one looks like it will shape up nicely. Maybe we will see some Hopfather. . . .

The anniversary party is a different animal than the fests. It's more of a party for their regulars and staff. If you like good beer, I'd recommend not letting that one thing color your whole perspective on their events. Check out the brewery lineup posted by drummrboy.

Avery doesn't typically bring in a brewery just because of the name, their fests are typically more friends of Avery - which Russian River, Lost Abbey, Sierra Nevada, Stone, and Dogfish Head all are. They'll also skew local - 80% of the beers there will be Colorado brewers. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, since the brewers all try to one up each other with what they bring, and I think the local thing lends itself especially well to an IPA fest. Heady Topper won't be there, guaranteed. Neither will things like Maine Lunch or other East Coast small batch stuff. Stone's Ruination 10th is a fair bet, Super IPA will definitely be there, probably multiple Alpine offerings, a couple cool things from RR (think Pliny and Hopfather more than Row 2), Cigar City (BA Jai Alai, anyone?), and then tons of cool local stuff. I'm just happy to be hitting a festival with lower ABV beers that you can drink more of. Three weeks away!

Avery doesn't really do list releases. They say it's because the breweries are really bad about sending what they say they're going to, or telling them what they're sending before it gets there, or knowing what they're sending until they send it a few days prior. I've met brewers. I believe this.

Mmmhmm. Sometimes a list gets out the morning of an event, but otherwise, you'll just have to wait. Good and bad I guess. I don't mind a little suspense leading up to one of these events. BTW - who's going? I'll be there. Anybody else?

I just received a preliminary list from our organizational folks.

As with all festivals, things are subject to change. I have not been back to personally catalog every beer. And it sounds like a few more may or may not roll in (Bull and Bush, Maui, etc.) So take this list with a grain o' salt.
