Avery Maharaja 2014 Different - Not As Good?

    Anyone notice that the first batch of Maharaja in 2014 tastes different? It seems to lack the hop nose and malt punch I love. Tried on tap twice on separate days: once at Lucky Pie and once at Avery. Asked the tap master at Avery and he said they did swap yeast this year but it should not be noticeable. What my buddy and I experienced didnt seem like a yeast issue. Anyone else?

    Ha! It's funny you posted this. I had it on tap at the West End Tavern last week. I mentioned to my girlfriend that it tasted different from last year. In fact, I didn't even finish the pint. Glad I'm not alone.

    I heard a guy in Pittsburgh say that this years Victory Hop Ranch was not as good as last years.

    Not at all, maharaja falls off really fast, with most other IPA's I think people over react but with this beer I don't think so.

    I drain poured the bomber, wasn't good at all... actually tasted more like a confused American Tripel IPA then a good hop bomb.

    not that fast. I love the stuff, and drink off the same batch as long as it lasts (where I live in Alaska). Also, it's so sweet and malty that even when the hops do fade, the other elements still say "maharaja" to me.
