Pretty sure that its common practice to dry out ipas using sugar to
    1. Thin out the body
    2. Not have an overwhelming amount of malty sweetness competing with the hop flavors.
If you're looking for a full bodied iipa I suggest picking up an american barleywine instead.

It was also one of the few beers I poured down the drain last year.

Boy howdy, would that be a novelty for a thread:
"Does anyone notice that this year's batch is exactly the same as last years?"

to me, Maharaja fits that description, kinda like Unearthly. Could be a DIPA or a hoppy barleywine. Bigfoot could easily be a DIPA when fresh. If Maharaja seemed thin, then maybe this batch is different, cuz one thing it ain't (historically) is thin.

Really hope this isn't the case as The Great King is one of my favorite things I to pick up around this area from Avery.

I've never been a fan of maharaja because they use so much sugar. I get a medicinal flavor from the dipas out there that use sugars to dry out their beers. Stone does it too, and I get the same astringent qualities in both brewers beers. As a result I don't drink many of the high gravity dipas.

What you say makes sense, and is likely true of Maharaja (added sugar to boost abv and dry out a bit). But it happens to "hit the spot" on my palate. And I can't imagine myself describing it as thin. Good thing there are so many beers so we can all find the ones that suit us best!

Oh my god, you seriously think you can detect a few days difference? Also, you remember the subtle difference a days make when thinking about LAST years batch? I know you'll respond with "yes" but come on, if your palate is that good then you're like king beer advocate. That beer came out 18 days ago. 18! You know what's older than that beer? The last effing Christmas Day!!!! You know what's almost the same age? 2014! I've had a bad day and a few beers but Jesus-tap dancing-Christ that's a crazy assertion.

By the way don't ever homebrew. By the time your beer bottle conditions it'll be vinegar.

Not especially but you asked a question in Spanish and I responded in kind. I apologize for the confusion you felt. I'm just saying that I doubt your palate can detect a few days difference. The original question was actually if this years batch wasn't as good as last years. You decided that this years batch was old not that it wasn't as good as last years. The latter I could accept the former I don't believe you can detect.
