Eh, it didn't really bother me. I've still got a bottle or two from past vintages and, quite frankly, BCBS probably isn't even in my top 10 imperial stouts. Too boozy. I was just surprised how quickly it went; that doesn't usually happen here. I would have liked to try Coffee, but I think the whole state got seven bottles.

I just had it. I thought it was stellar. It must have been fresh even though I think I read the code wrong on the neck of the bottle. I thought it said day 85 of the year 2013. I got it this month. It was very, very good. Drank like a barley wine but these avery fellows are a bit decptive as that hog heaven drank like a DIPA.

not my language but did take it back in grade school. unless i'm mistaken, technically, "comprendo" means: "i understand"

    ¿comprendes? means "do you understand/comprehend".

wouldn't want you guys to get stuck on the side of a road thinking you're asking someone if they understand when you're actually ending your sentence/question with the statement: I UNDERSTAND. the people being asked might not: entienden.

Maharaja is a huge beer with a big malt profile for a double IPA, it's very different than most of the other DIPAs on the market and it's been around longer than most of them too. It used to be my favorite beer a few years back, but I've since gravitated towards more crisp examples of the style - double jack, enjoy by, sucks, for example. It also has a higher ABV than most. Perhaps the beer hasn't changed, but your palate has? That's what I attributed the difference to, but that's me. I did just pick up a bottle the other day for old time's sake (Batch No. 17, 2014). Looks like it was bottled in mid December, so I'll give it a whirl but don't plan on being blown away. I personally think this beer has a longer shelf life than most double IPAs.

Have you tasted this years? IMHO the best for many year's. It is really magnificent. We have an embarrassment of riches of a reasonably priced supply here I would love to share. If you prefer to give it away to friends, though, well, prob. have some happy friends, so I am good with that too.

Man, you should take a spanish class. After trying to make your point about proper english you come in using improper verb conjugation with your spanish. Necesitas un professor muy inteligente amigo, por que todos los texanos hueros no pueden hablar epanol. You'll have to excuse the lack of tildes and accents as my smart phone is muy terrible and doesn't have those capabilities.

No, I haven't had this year's. I'd probably have picked up a bottle or two if I had seen it, which I fully expected to @ some point... but it really disappeared fast (check out the "BCBS in Seattle" thread if you're interested, one of the longer threads in the PNW forum).

If it's really that good... well... maybe we should talk.

    This thread is awesome.

I now know never to buy Maharaja that's older than 18 days, and I'm getting free Spanish classes.

Had a few in the 2H of 2013 and I thought they tasted great. This beer is always on the IIPA/Barleywine border for me. I like it old and fresh :grimacing:. Interested to try the 2014's now.
