Avery Mephistopheles 2010

    Just recently picked up a bottle of Dec 2010 Meph - should I continue to age (1-1.5 years more), or consume relatively soon? Thanks guys!

    Depends on how you like it. I've had it fresh (love it) and aged (love it that way, too). All depends on you and your pallet. I've got a vertical of every year stashed, waiting for that "right moment".

    Haha...at 16%,it better be a good moment! I've never had it before, so I really can't say. It has a year and a half on it already, but maybe another 6-8 months will mellow down the heat a little more. How many years do you have for your vertical?

    I agree with Schmitty, it's good fresh and aged longer. I've not had the chance to try it aged for a really long time, tried a 2009 late 2011, which showed no signs that it couldn't be stored for MUCH longer. However I will said this, of the three in the series, Mephistopheles is the only one I liked fresh as well. The other two could use a little mellowing.

    I've had fresh, and a 3 year old bottle. the older was better, but you should try a fresh one first so you have some point of comparison

    Unfortunately on a student budget and with no continuous access to Meph, trying it fresh is not really an option. I think I'll let it go 'til Dec to make it a whole 2 years, then crack it. Thanks for the feedback, guys!

    I have at least one bottle from everry year it's been released. It's great fresh and with age on it.
