Strangely enough, we had been calling it RevRum for short. But for some reason I didn't consider it for an actual name. Perhaps next time...

Couldn't make time to get to Boulder, anyone that picks up extra I'd like to get a few bottles and can make it worth your while. Thanks

2012 Rumpkin was amazing, and if any of you were the kind people that shared your beers with me again thank you

I have to say that was a lot of people in line. Probably one of the longest lines I've seen there. Everyone got what they wanted but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a lot more limited at the stores then I thought it would be.

    And it was tasty.

Decided after I got home that an Uncle Jacobs was the way to end the night of drinking. Keep forgetting how tasty that beer is.

Being relatively new to town, this was my first Avery barrel release experience, and I thought the line went pretty quickly given the number of people there. Glad to hear you thought it was tasty - I'm waiting until next weekend to crack the first one. Good way to kick off a holiday weekend!

One of the guys ahead of me in line had a nephew who works at Avery, and he was kind enough to share some of the 2012 Rumpkin and 2011 Beast - excellent stuff all around.

You will see that Avery runs one of the best releases I've ever been to. And I've been to several around the country. Nice orderly line and fast especially if you have cash. And you can't beat the special beers they have on tap for several hours before and after.

Agreed that Avery has it down. Great beer again, good to see everyone as always.

Glad we made it too, it was a great trip, we ended up hitting 22 breweries. Thanks for chatting in line!

I'm curious to hear y'alls opinion of the beer. I cracked one of mine open last week and it was probably one of the most interesting beers I've had all year.

Finally opened up one of these bad boys today... whoa doggy, that is some serious sour! (Mind you, I'm still working on acquiring a taste for sour beers.) Very boozy nose, but no real noticeable heat while drinking it. I'm assuming this should age well, so I'm planning on sitting on the other bottles a while to see how it develops.

Also, if anyone is still looking for Thensaurum, I was up at Total Beverage in Westminster on Saturday, and they had a few bottles on display for $11 apiece.

Been really frugal with my beer purchases for a few months now, not buying bottles over $10. Made this one one of my exceptions and grabbed a bottle yesterday, looking forward to trying this.

Sad, the standbys Ten FIDY or Narwhal in 4-packs?

Not sure your I am quite getting your question/point?

If you are saying its sad that I am limiting myself, I haven't had any issues. Living in an area with great breweries and taprooms to visit, bars that offer incredible tap lists, and there still being a plethora of great beers being offered in 4/6 packs, I am never at a loss for enjoyable beer. Working fine for me.

Plus, if there is that particular beer I really want to try I will buy it. Like I did here.

Well that kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it? That would happen to me like every week, lol.

Not for me; this approach separates the passing interest beers with the legitimate interest beers. End result for me being that over the past 4 or so months I have probably not spend more than $10 on a bottle more than 3 or 4 times. I used to spend that much on bottles on a weekly basis, or at least 3 out of every 4 week basis. Plus, the bottles I do pass on are usually available on tap at some point or another somewhere nearby.

Might not work for you, and many others, but I have been perfectly happy with this approach.

Thensaurum was worth the price...just glad I have another stashed away.
One of the best sours I've had in a long time.
Many thanks to my Colorado trader.

    That's some serious self-control

That's true, but I typically think the value is better in the bottle and I hate trying to hunt certain beers down on tap. But if the bottle is expensive enough, you're right, sometimes the $5/beer on tap is a better deal.
