Got a text from son-in-law saying he tried the bottle of Truffale I gave him over the holidays. He said flavor was good but there were literally chunks of sediment (?) in the beer. I haven't tried one of mine yet (loved it on tap at the brewery) so wondering if others have had this issue?

I recall momi had chunks of coconut floating in it. Seems to make sense other beers would too.

Someone posted a little while back in the Avery Barrel Aged thread that theirs had chunks, but tasted fine. I opened one soon after that didn't have any.

This “issue” was briefly discussed in the Avery Barrel Aged Series thread. Not sure if anything was decided, but might be of some use to individual. Also, I would reach out to Avery and see if they are aware of it and see what they have to say. I think someone may have mentioned this in the Avery thread, but it may be as simple as “chunks” of powdered chocolate (cocoa)?

Most of the time it's nothing to worry about. Would be nice if it was around here. Have not seen a new Barrel Aged Series in probably close to 2 years.

    Cheers!

Not too crazy. I've gotten chunks and sludge in plenty of beers over the years. Once you've tried the Veil's Hornswoggler, you no longer notice. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey, folks... just noticed this thread. We've been monitoring Raspberry Truffale for the last couple months and a portion of the bottles definitely have more floaties and chunks than we wanted. It's basically cocoa powder that didn't fully dissolve. It won't hurt you and doesn't seem to affect the flavor too much, but that's certainly not what we wanted the beer to look like. Chances are that the powder-heavy bottles happened at either the beginning or end of the run, so I'd guess that 80% of them look the way we intended. That last 20% doesn't look as appetizing and we're certainly dissatisfied with them.

In any case, feel free to email [email protected] if you had one of those chunky bottles so we can make it up to you. If you're local we can swap you out for different bottles. We can't legally ship replacement beer if you're not local, but there are other ways for us to make it right.

    Rock on...

That goes without saying. And if you’re into that Moab Stuff, you are certainly close enough from GJ. I did some work over in GJ & Fruita over the summer and I was pleasantly surprised. People were friendly, I enjoyed the beers I found in Fruita, and I got out of the Denver Metro traffic for a short time. :sunglasses:

Yes, Moab for sure. GJ/Fruita has some great mountain biking as well.

    Cheers!
