Yikes. I have had this beer on draft, and it's a very good beer. But more than a dollar an ounce is certainly pushing it. But these Avery 12 oz bottles do seem to sell, so I guess I'm in the minority.
yes, I have never had the brew but like pretty much any stout I will give it a shot. I know this is not always easy to find so just passing along the info.
If you like Mephistopheles and coffee, you will enjoy. Although personally I have enjoyed the regular Mephistopheles more, both fresh and aged.
I agree, these Avery RIS are some of he most expensive beers per ounce out there. I have some Uncle Jacobs and Tweak sitting in the cellar. I feel like I need to let them cellar for a good number of years to get my money's worth out of them. Plus the high ABV can stand to mellow out a bit. Too bad they don't do bombers or 6-packs with these offerings. The price point would be better.
I don't think the bombers would be better priced, frankly. And a bomber of 18% abv beer could be real inconvenient. Tweak is expensive but I still would rather it be 14-15$ per 12oz than 25$ per bomber. Whole Foods in PA seem to be the place to find it. The one in Berwyn has plenty as well as some Pump[KY]n and Vanilla Bean Stout. The Vanilla may be sold out by now, it was moving fast.
I had it for the first (and last) time, last year. It's good, but not that good at those price points. BCBS still blows it out of the water and can be had for less.
