Dude you got it at grocery store off the shelf, it wasn't particularly expensive, and no one wants to trade BA abraxas for it. It obviously sux!

I got one just recently myself, haven't cracked it yet though. What's your store? Been meaning to ask you that.

Cracked one of the two I picked up and I was pretty fricken impressed. I would have to drink them side by side, but reminded me a lot of 2015 BCBS, just not as thick.

If you're near the Philly suburbs, it's on the shelves here.

They dropped about a week ago here in NorCal. Just cracked it open. I usually like my BBA Stouts a little below cellar temp, but this one doesn't start to shine until it warms. Not bad at all.

So if this is year round how come my distro rep is trying to convince me this is a one drop and done

I think it depends on their definition of "available year round"

I really didn't like this beer very much. Definitely not worth the hype of other Avery BA beers.

For real- how can you say Avery beers are hyped???

There's zero northeast homer bias and hype with their offerings so, how can they even taste good???!?

Here in PA there is a lot of hype for the gold wrapper Averys. The vanilla bean didn't carry the usual hyped price. $12 for a bomber is pretty good for any BA Stout anymore...

    I LOL'd

Tendency towards homer bias aside, for a 12.00/bomber BA Stout this thing is fantastic. Haters gonna hate...

I feel the same way. Avery gets plenty of respect from what I've seen and their barrel aged beers are selling here.

A friend of mine found a bottle of this and picked it up for me, so I was finally able to give it a shot! Drinking it by myself was a bit of a chore, because it was pretty sweet. So the first glass I poured was really quite good, and I enjoyed the vanilla character with the barrel flavor. But the second glass was a bit of a labor and I ended up leaving a bit of it in there.

So...shared with a friend, I would have loved every minute of it!

That's good to know. I'm saving my bottle to share after a dinner sometime because I know exactly what you're describing. Sometimes I wish more beers were just sold as single 12oz bottles instead of bombers. At least Avery does this with the higher abv beers.

I'm not sure I could make it through an entire bomber of Tweak or Samael's alive...
