I had this yesterday at the brewery on tap and it's fantastic! The bottle is great but on tap, wow

You definitely under paid for this one. I saw it for more than 10 bucks. Probably around 15ish. I'll probably pick a bottle up seeing that I didn't know that this was barrel aged until now. The few beers that I've had from Avery have been pretty good.

Not a bad beer but you will be disappointed if you have expectations based on Uncle Jacobs or Tweak. Avery obviously knows how to make great BA stouts, and this is just an OK one.

Hmm...When breweries can make great stouts, especially when they come from barrels, why do they choose to make "ok" ones? Its not like they can't tell the difference.

To offer something at a lower price point and more frequently.

Makes sense. It would also make sense to make a big brother for it then; Vanilla Uncle Jacob's.

I think it's a nice, soft(very) vanilla bean and (to a lesser extent) bourbon accented stout. It's not a heavyweight, by any means, just kinda silky and smooth with a relatively long, but, once again, soft finish. I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to seek out another bottle.

I have not seen it yet. Definitely will give it a try when it arrives though.

Picked up 5 bottles of this at $6.80 each in southern Orange County, CA.

It's nothing exceptional, but for $6.80 a bomber it's pretty exceptional.

Saw it at Norms in Vienna yesterday. They had probably four or five bottles around 4pm - might be worth calling to see if they still have any.

Not worth the price of admission in my opinion. Barrel character was minimal, and the base stout was a little thin. I wanted to love it, but it let me down. It was okay, but for $15 there are many better options, including 12 oz of any of the bigger Avery BA stouts.
