Did this beer get enough love last year to officially be hyped?

Well, whatever hype it's garnered will soon be halted dead in its tracks. Just showed up in my market for $9.50 per 12 oz can. Almost doubled in price from last year. I know I won't be buying any. It's great, but not BCBS prices great. They should rename the beer to "Price Jump."

$4.99 apiece where I got it here in Raleigh.

DAMN! I saw it in a store in VA last week for $22 a four pack and I decided to wait for it to hit Durham since it was about $18 last year (haven't seen it yet). Maybe that won't pan out the way I expected. What part of the state are you in?

Asheville. That $22 4-pack is likely left over from last year. You should've grabbed it.

Yikes. Those transportation costs from Fuquay-Varina to Asheville must be insane. :astonished:

I bought 4pack at Bottle Revolution, and it was $20 I believe. I got the impression the local bottle shops in Raleigh that got it had to drive down to Fuquay and pick it up from the source. That might explain why it was more expensive in Asheville, and why a lot of bottle shops did not get it so far this year. Aviator might be taking pointers from Noda, at least for thier sought after brew.

Nope. Distributed by Skyland. Seems like something fishy is going on...

Funny you mention Noda in this thread, as a shop here in Raleigh tried to charge me $7 apiece for cans of Hoppy Holidays the other day. I slowly put the 4 I had pulled out of the fridge back and left. I know they have to go there to get it, but dang I don't need to try it that bad.

Hoppy Holidays is still damn good but it used to be MUCH harder to get because they were making small batches of it....Cant say I was super pleased to see piles of it all over town for $12 when I went to the saturday release at the brewery and paid $15 a 4 pack. I'm still a NoDa fan and all they have done for CLT and NC Beer just felt like i got "took" a little

Agreed with @CavemanRamblin. Lord knows that I have stood in my share of lines waiting on some unobtainum beers but, given the ever increasing amount of good beer out there and the fact that I brew my own, my tolerance for investing large blocks of time and sizable cash outlays has certainly dwindled significantly. That all being said, I thoroughly enjoyed Jump Night last year and IMO it is reasonably priced around $5 a can. After all, I am certainly not going to put away 4 of them in a sitting with the ABV sitting at or around 13%.

Yeah $5 for Night Jump is appropriate I think. If people are seeing it for double that in places then I can't really explain that. I do think the guy who just found it in VA is probably seeing last year's though as I'd be surprised if this year's had made it that far already.

It was this year's. I don't pretend to know the logistics of distribution, but the location was Danville, which is just over the state line and about as close to Aviator as Greensboro.

I did wind buying a 4-pack in Durham at $18.99, so same price as last year.

I finished off my last '16 can over the weekend and it got me thinking about the '17 release. I reached out to the brewery and they said can release on 11/19 at the brewery. 16 oz. format this year.

    Thread bump.

This year's version is no bueno. Not a fan at all. Missing the mouthfeel and overall flavor. Disappointing considering how great '16 was.

The Apple Brandy variant intrigued me, but I'll now pass.

I agree. 2015 was by far the best. 2016 was too boozy (too much barrel) and 2017 just not as good in every way.
