Eat, make them carbs. Drink water. Don't rush the beers, if your at one per hour your safe unless they're high Abv brews. Drink water before bed, take some Motrin or the like. Eating is important, on an empty stomach even light beers will give you a quick buzz.

It is very important for you to eat something as the day goes on, it helps to keep the alcohol from damaging your stomach and keeps a balance.

Drinking alcohol dehydrates your body so if you throw in a glass of water every two beers you should keep yourself well hydrated. Of course drinking water in any social circumstance isn't the popular thing to do, it is the smart thing to do to keep you feeling right later and/or the next day.

I get hungover about 1-2 hours after having a beer or two on an empty stomach. Apparently this is normal, its actually mild withdrawl. Just either eat more while you drink, or drink slower.

Most people don't experience his because they drink enough to ward off the symptoms (until the next morning). The answer is NOT to drink more.

Hair of the dog works well, because a hangover is your body detoxing from alchohol.

But its not practical, especially if you have to wake up for work.

Take a b12 lozenge and a time release Advil before bed. Keep iced water nearby in an insulated sealed thermos.

Eat a full meal at least 2 hours before a session. Take an organic multivitamin and some liver supplements with the meal.

The health threads can always be a buzz kill where we realize that this passion has health risks. And not to further that buzzkill, but to all advising advil and ibuprofen, definitely rethink that. While it's better than acetaminophen, it's still rough on an already taxed liver.

Pound some water, a coffee, make an abnormally greasy breakfast and ride it out. Look around you-this group is undefeated against hangovers.

I used to have the same problem. Bad. Would have a few.. stop drinking and then feel like total ass.

You are stopping drinking after getting a buzz. Then you feel like shit when you are coming down. Pretty normal.

What worked for me was to have one beer as soon as I get home from work a couple days a week. This will train your body to take in alcohol and come down off that alcohol and continue on with your day.

If you drink a glass of water after every beer, (two or more if it's high abv) you can avoid most hangover symptoms. Snacking is good, too, if you want to absorb the alcohol more slowly and avoid possible stomach pain.

As others said, a hangover is your body's way of saying something is out of balance.
Over time, your tolerance may increase, but honestly that isn't necessarily a good thing.
In the short term, really, if you're going to drink EAT SOMETHING, FOR DOG'S SAKE!!! Also drink water. Some say you're just taking up beer space, but a) it will dilute what's there, and b) it will probably slow down your drinking.

Think pedialyte works better than gatorade. Sleep is the only thing that really works for me. Wake up, take a shower, go back to sleep. Used to be 6 hrs was ok, but now sometimes 9 or 10.

To understand your hangover you must know the symptoms.
    1. Dehydration ( yeah you hit the head a lot the night before)
    2. Withdrawal#1 ( the key reason why the "hair of the dog" works, although it just prolongs your hangover)
    3. Withdrawal#2 ( most likely the first thing you consume in the morning is a caffeinated beverage)
    4. Empty Stomach (lower blood sugar and lets face it you might want something a little fatty in the morning to ease)
    5. Loss of key minerals and vitamins due to symptom #1 ( Potassium and Sodium)
Now how to ease the symptoms?
    1. Drink water (no brainer right? I like to consume plenty of water before during and after drinking, yes you piss more frequently but its not as taxing on your kidneys)
    2. Try to avoid prolonging your hangover, even when you feel better after that morning bloody mary, you are just going to be hungover after lunch and that sucks.
    3. Have a Coffee or a soda/pop/energy drink. Get your body up and moving
    4. Eat a Snack
    5. Drink a sports drink ( murder on your teeth but so is beer) they help replace the minerals you blissfully pissed away with your money.
    6. Take an ibuprofen not acetaminophen. We all know what they help with. And frankly Id rather have the risk of an ulcer from the ibuprofen, than the risk of liver damage taking Tylenol ( i punish my liver enough)
    7. Go back to bed if possible.

I have a younger friend who takes Drinkwel religiously and he drinks macros and bottom shelf liquor. He claims he never gets a hangover. Personally I found that my hangovers have been significantly reduced since I started drinking better beer. Only going to a major bottle release bottle share like Darkness Day or KBS does me in nowadays.
