    I'm on a trading hiatus (can't receive packages) but I still have an itch to wrap up some crap in bubble wrap, stuff it into a box, and pay an exorbitant shipping fee in order to send a liquid to a complete stranger. So another LIF it is!

    I'm only 22 and I've been pretty active on this forum for the last year and I feel like I've experienced a great deal of awesomeness from fellow BA's. People I've never met or just met, who have totally hooked me up and shared beers that I've only dreamed of trying. Just a ton of generosity and genuine love for the hobby. So the premise for this LIF is simple, but slightly different. You will not receive a package of beer. What I want is nominations of who to send a package to. Give me a screenname, and a reason why they deserve these beers. Maybe this BA is currently in a jam and in need of some cheering up. Maybe they went above and beyond in helping a new trader gain traction. Maybe they just got back from overseas. Maybe they traded a King Henry for a Torpedo. I want a damned good reason of why they are a true beer advocate. I will chose a winner and get in contact with them and shoot a box their way. I'm in no rush to choose a winner so take your time nominating someone! I'll close this down on August 1st. (a LIF is not expected from the winner btw)

    The package: Some aged brews from the brewery that got me into this craziness. Dogfish Head.
    1 x 2004 World Wide Stout. The last bottle I have of this vintage. My all time favorite aged beer and one that I still consider my best beer find.
    1 x 2005 Raison D'extra
    1 x 2010 Olde School
    1 x Mystery Beer...either a want or something local and tasty that the BA can't normally get.

    Cheers!

    I nominate VikeMan, as seen on the homebrew forums. He helps basically on every thread in the homebrew forums and never gets pissed at people for not knowing "what type of wood chips to soak" etc. He has helped me troubleshoot numerous times through messaging and I think he displays what a true beer advocate should be!

    I agree with Vikeman - always a wealth of knowledge and gives a ton back to the BA brewing community. My other choice would be Pahn because he actually uses logic on this forum and keeps focus on the topic in his posts (well 99% of time anyway).

    THIS!!!!

    somewhat anti-climactic that the first reply is the correct one, but davey101 being a regular in the Late Night BeerAdvocate crew...this one should be a no brainer. wouldn't it be great to see him crack one of those beers on his triumphant return?

    tewaris is a pretty kickass BA who has given me every beer he has ever had. He is also:

    * broke
    * on a trading hiatus
    * got back from overseas
    * etc.

    Great idea, cheers!

    Shoo65 - This guy heard from a friend that I was dying to try my first Dark Lord and was willing to trade it to me for a song and a dance. Seriously, I had all off the shelf stuff, nothing super exciting available to trade, not to mention it was my first trade so I had no history. I offered to trade in person as I would be passing through his home town...but I'm sure he would have mailed had the IP trade not been an option.

    Not only did he show me the ropes on my first trade but he taught me all about extras and hooked me up with some Founders goodies since he knew it was my favorite brewery and even offered to extra me a BooGoop after hearing that I discovered a wheat wine that I loved and he thought I'd appreciate it and didn't want me to never get to try it.

    Since then we've arranged a few trades and I couldn't be more grateful. He set a great example for a new BA and I've been trying to repay his kindness to him and as many other BAs as I can.

    PS. He's got a Cantillion Saint Lamvinus for me the next time I pass through Indy...seriously...who does that?

    PPS. Honorable mention to Centennial who also agreed to trade with a newbie (arranged trades with both these guys at the same time) and he hooked me up with a Better Half and tons of extras for some regular offerings from FFF. He even ended up shipping first. That sort of trust is a testament to the power of Beer Advocacy.

    Cheers to these guys and every nominee! I only hope that one day I'm worthy of such a nomination.

    Fantastic LIF...Thanks!

    Through my experience I'd have to vote for BeerMeFitz! I first met Fitz at KBS day this past year and I literally had to stop him from giving me more free beer! lol He is the most generous BA that I've ever met. Also him recently giving away free Heady Topper to anyone in Chicago that has never had it. My good buddy was one of the people he shared with and now knows the legend that is The Fitz!

    And I would like to throw out two honorable mentions for MordorMongo, who recently gave me a Dark Lord, which I had never had, as an extra! And Discord257 who went out of his way for me to send me a bottle that I really wanted to try. These two are class act Ba's all out!

    miikezombie - contacted me about my first trade attempt looking for more details on what the bottle count was, cost, etc. After I gave him the info he acknowledged that he probably didn't have the ammo needed to pull off the trade which is awesome enough because he could have easily taken me being a newbie trader and I would have never known. To make the story better though he then didn't freak out when I kept asking him follow up questions on some other offers I had been given and what his thoughts were on how fair they were and even helped remind me that it's just beer and it's meant to be shared.

    It doesn't sound like much but for a newbie trader it really helped put everything into perspective and made me realize that despite all the "bad trader" threads I was reading that there really are some legit traders who just enjoy sharing good beer with others. Posting this now reminds me that I still owe him a trade with some nice extras as a thank you...

    Modor Mongo. The guy just speaks the truth and seems to be as level-headed as they come when discussing trading "value" and all that BS on the forums. I believe he also hooked up some other Michigan BA's at a DL day tasting and showed them a great time (I wasn't there). Plus, he just opened up his cellar and had what sounds like a helluva party for no other reason than he wanted to have a helluva party.

    Haha yup, I think I'm going to build up a second box to send his way. If anyone has his address/information please BM me! I'm still unsure of what happened, but hes definitely a deserving BA.

    Thanks to Yamar for the nod. If I could I would like to withdraw my name from this bif. I would rather see a box go to 4balance, he deserves lots of well wishes heading his way. Cheers!

    Shagtastic - last time I ran into David was at the Upland tasting room. He was there picking up Sour Reserve bottles for a group of Chicago winners. A lot of bottles. He didn't even win a bottle for himself. It was 100+ degrees. One of his sandals was destroyed.

    He also sent a bottle of BA Plum Alpha Klaus (!) to these people:
    http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/lost-stolen-ba-plum-alpha-klaus-197-and-277.15416/
    AND offered to send beer to anyone willing to send another bottle:

    Clearly he's nuts.

    great idea for a LIF dave, I don't have any nominations more deserving that those listed already but I don't envy you having to choose.That's a solid list of BAs already!

    Hey guys, thanks for all the replies! Lots of awesome BA's listed. I know I said I would keep this open until August 1st, but I actually received a message about a very deserving BA that fit the bill for this LIF perfectly. So this is going to get shut down.

    Oh, and 4balance will be receiving a box as well! If I had the funds a third box would go off to match1112, that was a really awesome thing you did for yamar68! Cheers everyone!
