As many of you know, I recently had some "issues" with a trade. I posted a bad trader alert to warn everyone not to trade with this particular person. After posting the alert I received an incredible show of generosity from several BA's offering to send me free boxes of beer. Some of these BA's I have traded with in the past, some I recognized but had never traded with and others I neither recognized nor traded with. Dat fell into this last category. I thanked everyone for their kindness but asked that no one send me anything. Just several people reaching out to someone they didn't even know was enough for me. Dat contacted me and asked for my shipping info, as many others had. I told him thankyou but refused to give it to him. He threatened to get my info from past trading partners so I posted asking that no one give out any of my personal info. Dat countered by offering a free HF beer to anyone that gave him my shipping info. It was at this point I knew it was over. The other trader did send me tracking info, apologized, and said he was sendind the boxes immediately, which I updated in the thread. I did receive the beers he owed me plus some nice extras. Apparently Dat isn't good at following instructions. I came home late yesterday night to find an unexpected box sitting in front of my door. The box was indeed from Dat. He sent me a Heady Topper, Hill Farmstead Everett and Hill Farmstead Abner! I can't thank you enough Dat. You fall into my personal "BA Badass" category, a hard category to get into by my standards . As I mentioned in the bad trader thread, anyone who sent me anything would receive something in return. So as George Costanza might say "You want to get nuts, lets get nuts"! I assure you this isn't over, not for you at least As much as I want to drink that Abner by myself (and it will take everything in my power to make sure I don't) I decided not to. I happen to be going to San Antonio next weekend for the FT release and can't think of a better way to pass on your generosity by sharing it with other BA's at the pre-release tasting that morning. I also find it fitting that you lived in Austin and would probably be at the release yourself if you still lived there. I'll be sure to let everyone know where the beer came from (in case they miss this thread) and raise a glass to you my friend. Thanks X 100 Dat!
No worries and enjoy the beers! Other BAers would have done the same thing, but I had a person local to you that supplied me your address without reciprocation, so kudos to him (you know who you are). My apologies that the only box I had at the time could not hold the other bottles I wanted to send, so a second box may or may not be in transit. As a side note, please do not confuse me with Dat Nguyen who was a badass linebacker for my Dallas Cowboys (even though we share the same first name). Unfortunately, he's a lifetime aggie (yeah, I put it in lowercase ). ¡Salud! and Hook 'Em!
Well, let me tell you my Dat story. We did a smallish trade about a month ago. One of the 'extras' he was going to send developed a crack,so he didn't send it. A few weeks later, he asked if I had gotten any '11 Breakfast Stout, saying he was going to send me two to make up for the extra. I received not 2 BS, but a 4 pack, along with another two extras which I can't remember, although they were quickly consumed. Dat's da man, even though is a teasip!
I've said it in may other threads, but after a small recent trade he sent me a BM saying he was going to HF and asked if I wanted him to pick up anything. Dat is the man and one of my favorite traders. Cheers! Mike
i will pile on here as well...as Dat offered to pick up some VT goodies for me at cost and a shipping label since he "has enough beer" (is that possible?) and wasn't looking for any trades. not only did he pick up everything that i was looking for, but he offered some other items that he happened upon in his travels if i wanted at cost as well. i got the box and to my surprise, the man threw in extras and swag. extremely stand up guy!!!
Resurrecting this thread so I can share my gratitude...Dat and I did one trade over the summer, and he literally buried me in Gandhi-Bot (16 cans worth). He messaged me last weekend and said he had recently made a trip to VT, and that he was going to send me an unsolicited box. Um yeah, that's pretty much any BA's dream. Today he had this delivered to my porch: Dat even knows I can't get him back immediately, which makes this even more awesome. Cheers to you, Dat, and thanks again!

The guys f'in awesome. I sent him a thankyou box for his random box of kindness and within a week or so, I had another box from him at my front door. I don't know how he does it with so many people. He's like a beer fairy ninja . I can't keep up with him and its really starting to frusturate me.
As someone who has benefited by these "random boxes of kindness"(from Dat, through you) I'll have to agree. "Fairy beer ninja"?... "Santa Claus"?... Dat is definately the "Man"!! A generous one at that. Thanks for that Lawson's, Dat!
