Is this available in either Portland or the Tacoma area? My mom is out there for a couple of days, and she's generally down to mule a bottle or two for me on trips as long as the shops are somewhat convenient. She's going to the Japanese gardens in portland on Sunday, and will be at my sister's place on Ft. Lewis through Wednesday. They have a pretty nice beer store on post, and 99 Bottles isn't too far. If its not around, what would 2-3 not-to-miss bottles be? Again, she can't go hunting all over the place, so it'd have to be fairly readily available. I'll be in San Fran next month, so no need of suggestions for anything that makes it down that way (that will still be around) or anything from NorCal.
Are you referring to the Fremont Brewing item from Seattle or the BA iteration of Portland's Buffalo Trace aged Hopworks Abominable ale? Identifying the brewer is always a good thing.
Fremont's is not distributed in Oregon, but B-Bomb did make it down to Tacoma. However, it is pretty much gone for the year. Whole Foods Roosevelt had a good stock, but that got wiped out after the Seattle Beer Week 20% off sale.
I see no such thing: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/16353/?sort=styleA&show=all . So hopworks makes a barrel aged barrel aged beer? Neato! Thank you for the tip, and thank you for rightly surmising the beer after which I was obviously inquiring. Anything out right now to be on the lookout for?
Another batch of Fremont's Cowiche Canyon Hop Lab IPA was released at the brewery this week in bombers. I don't know if this batch is getting distributed to shops, though.
I heard there were still some BA Abominables at Super Deli Mart but may be gone by now. Perhaps if it is you could set up an IP trade for one? It's really a great beer and definitely worth seeking out.
It's not local but it may be something you can't get and I'm pretty sure 99 bottles has it. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/18858/65392
Interesting that the price shot up so much so quickly. I picked up two bottles of the very first bottling at the brewery for $10 each. The next year it's shot up to 18-20 per. I'm thinking though that Lincecum let the first bottling go too cheaply rather than it being too much now. At any rate, I have a nice vertical started and looking forward to great things from Fremont as they grow.
The brewery seems to release B-bomb bottles every once in a while on location. Follow them on Twitter.
The brewery has been selling the 2011 for $15/bottle. It's the shops in the area that have marked it up. I've seen it anywhere between $15.99 and $19.99.
I've had B-Bomb four different times (twice on tap, twice in bottle) and each time, I didn't really enjoy it. I know it's blasphemous and all, seeing how much I love Fremont, but there is just too much unbalanced heat for me.
Same. I bought a bottle and wasnt impressed then had it at the brewery during Seattle beer week and thought it was great. I do think it's a tad bit on the pricey side though.
I really like BA Abom, but love Kentucky Dark Star. I can not wait for those bottles. A case will be in my cellar!
