Any info on if this year they will be releasing this monster again? I'll be working in St. Louis for the next couple months so always wanted to try to obtain one. Cheers.

I read somewhere that Society members get theirs Saturday, but could be wrong

Per Twitter, after Society gets theirs, the rest will be a public release. Date is TBD.

Can anyone confirm how BA abraxas goes? Do we have some notice beforehand?

    Thanks!

Last year there was a fair amount of notice...it was available in person OR as a lottery (in which there are probably 20k entries so the odds of getting a bottle in the lottery are very very slim)

Societe members will be allowed to purchase one bottle of BAA tomorrow. That is a fact.

Public release details are not available yet. I imagine it would be soon. There's no reason for them to want to sit on bottles taking up space.

I heard the yield was super low this year because something was messed up with the base beer, maman which is why it is taking so long to come out.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that the base beer for Abraxas was not something that got released by Perennial. I think it is the base for Sump and 17 as well. It's only purpose is to have various adjuncts added to it.

I thought the base for BA abraxas is maman; not sure about regular abraxas

I believe the base for all their stouts is the same... Maman is its own variation of that base beer, not necessarily the base for BA abraxas

Maman is the basis for all the BA stouts including Abraxas. Ancho, Mexican Chocolate, and vanilla are added for BA Abraxas, Sump coffee for BA Sump, and Mint and chocolate for BA 17.

The stout recipe for the non-BA versions are same/consistent, but it has never been packaged for release.

Isn't Maman a barrel aged beer? You are saying that the base beer for BA abraxas is diff than the base beer for abraxas

I think your reading in to it too much... everyone knows Maman is barrel aged. They are saying that the maman base stout is the same base for all the other stouts.

So just to clarify, there is one base stout. It either gets an adjunct and becomes Abraxas/Sump/17 or goes into barrels to become Maman. Maman is then used to make BA Abraxas/Sump/17.

    Is that correct?

I know @coryking is not employed by Perennial anymore, but maybe he could chime in with the right answer.

Anyone go today and how was it?

Rather quiet on this thread. Maybe people are hoping to keep attention low on this for the public release

There is not a strong St Louis presence here, or they mostly lurk or trade. There are other forums that specialize in St Louis craft beer and I think are more active.

Was there today, more people there for regular sump, nothing crazy on tap. '14 abraxas, '15 abraxas, sump, burundi. Only people who has the chance to buy it was the societe members, so it was chill.

Really chill for the pickup. Had a table set up by the dart boards. Nothing on public release yet.

    I don't think there's Vanilla in BAA
