Not exactly. I think the confusion here is the use of Maman.

Sump, 17, and Abraxas all have the same base stout recipe. Maman is the standalone barrel aged version of that base stout. The base stout itself (nom BA) has never been released.

Easy to say BA Abraxas is an adjuncted Maman, but...I don't think that's actually a 100% accurate thing to say.

    It's simple.

Abraxas, Sump, 17, all have the same base. Let's call is "perennial stout".

Perennial Stout is BA and released as Maman.

The are all the same beer with different adjuncts, barrel treatment ect.

Was it one of the special taps?

No. Special taps were "surprise tap" where you go up there and they give you a pour of a random beer- they had a bunch of bottles from De Garde, 3 Floyds, etc, etc, etc. Some awesome stuff, some shit. I passed.

The other surprise was blue label maman- good but super hot. I think I prefer regular Maman.

They would randomly bring out BA abraxas bottles. The event is still going on but ducked out to do some work.

Bottle(s) people brought were pretty awesome. Tried some heat.

Yeah, overall the party was nothing special, it would've been cool if they had BA abraxas for everyone. Not everyone got to try it and some people took boss' pours and got none. I got a small sample but enough to enjoy. Had more fun meeting cool people and hanging out with friends.

I got a nice pour of one of the 2 bottles of BA Abraxas I saw busted. It was fantastic. Represented MN w a bottle of Bent Paddle BA Double Shot Double Black, which folks seemed to really enjoy. Overall a great afternoon, worth the trek for the Blue label Maman and all the bottles people generously shared!

I'm glad you brought this beer, it was great. This is a prime example of the fact that there is some fabulous beer being made out there that doesn't get the hype it deserves!

Shhh, we like to keep it this way. This beer was hard enough to get as it is, I can't imagine if it got some regional or nation hype.

True, from what I gathered it sounds like the local demand for this was crazy

No idea. Only out to members so far with another case gone at the party so I would guess 275 bottles so far.

On another note. I have never been so disgusted by beer people in my life by some of the pours people were taking/how people acted near the bottle share table. On several occaisons I saw a group of 4 people grab freshly opened bottles and finish it between the four of them. They sniffed through the table like bloodhounds untill there was nothing left.

Other than that awesome party. BA abraxas was excelletn.

I saw this same thing happen, an ounce or two is plenty when a bottle is being shared among so many people

Exactly. It was shocking to me. I dont care how long I have been chasing something. I could never fathom taking 5 or 6oz out of a 375 or a full glass from a 22oz.

You would think you would have better manners still living in your moms house as all.
