Hi all, hoping those who've traded for one of these before might have some guidance to offer. I know it's somewhat pricey (like $40ish, right?), but that it's released in limited quantities every holiday season at the brewery. Is this all correct? What does it take to land one? I was wondering if a trade featuring Evil Twin Double Barrel Jesus + BA Biscotti Break would be good, or a great starting point? Thoughts? I know Evil Twin gets to Indiana but I don't know how widespread these 2 are.
I think its a good starting point. You would probably need to add something small to get it done. You would also be far better off drinking those bottles unless you have quantity of them.
thanks for your reply...I was getting sad that no one did! lol I don't have big quantity, but I do have multiples of each. I just really, really want to drink a BA Behemoth. But as to your answer, since DB Jesus/BA Biscott run $25 each...is that a good rule of thumb, that BA Behemoth takes more than $40 worth of high-quality/limited brew? I'm ok with that if that's the going rate, just want to know is all.
not necessarily more than $40 dollars of limited stuff. I just think that most people with BA behemoth can get ahold of those pretty easily so it would take slightly more. At the same time I would feel guilty trading you a BA behemoth for the evil twins, they just drink so much better. You would definitely be paying for a smaller count bottle. Maybe just post it and see. I would be surprised if someone doesn't message you about it.
FWIW, I'm pretty sure BA Behemoth isn't brewery-only – there was some available at our neighborhood store in Madison a couple of months ago, and I think it was around $36/bottle.
It's is Brewery only. Are you sure it was the BA? No label and hand written? If you saw it at a store, the owner must have bought it at FFF and resold it.
It's been a bit, and I didn't buy any because I'm big enough fan of regular Behemoth to justify laying out that much cash for a bottle, but I don't think the bottles I saw were hand-written – they looked more like block letter / screen printing, IIRC. They did not look anything like the regular Behemoth bottles, or most other FFF releases. It seems pretty unlikely that they were purchased and resold, if it was $40 at the brewery.
yeah I was certain this was brewery only. not saying someone wasn't just re-selling it... bottle looks like this:
I'm sure I'll get shit for this but I traded a bottle of Proprietor's for mine. Probably doesn't need to be something that sought after to land a BA Behemoth. I could see some BCBCS, Black Note or KBS getting it done. I doubt it would even have to be $4$. I'd already had Prop and am not a huge coconut fan to begin with. I lucked into that bottle of Prop anyway, putting forth very little effort for it and only paid suggested retail for it. After I had 1/4 of another bottle at a friend's bottle share I figured someone who'd enjoy it more deserved it. I also didn't have to leave my house in the dead of January snow to make the trade, which helped convince me.
Also, they are definitely brewery only and hand written with paint pen. The one I got was from a batch around Christmas. It was a $40 bottle.
They looked sort of like that, but with a big "3", and I don't think it said "Barrel Aged", just "Behemoth 2013" – IIRC I had to ask to find out it was the BA version. So maybe it wasn't actually BA Behemoth? Glad I didn't buy one then.
Regular Behemoth is on the left. 2013 BA Behemoth is on the right. It is barrel aged even though they didn't write BA on it. http://www.*.com/uplimg/img_A_104275_2478113fb4a2d7b951944a258c87549b.jpg
I can't see your pic, but here is my bottle, which we drank this past weekend. Seems to fit the description above (sorry for the drunk, Untappd photo)
