I'm having trouble finding info about this year's Rye BA version of Darkness. The only thing I saw is "There will be a lot of it" Any idea of the cost/count and did it go to distro?

    Thanks in advance.

I heard 30,000 bottles were produced... I believe that was in a tweet from the head brewer at Surly, I'll look around for confirmation... but, yeah.. there are a lot of bottles

Around 30,000 bottles. Approximately 9,000 released at Darkness Day and the rest went to Minnesota and Chicago, not sure what numbers to each.

It cost $20 at Darkness Day and I have seen it from $19 to $30 in the Twin Cities. $22-$25 is the norm.

Thank you, I think I understand now. Past years haven't been BA (except for a small portion) while this years was the first that all bottles were BA in the Rye Barrels. Does that sound accurate? I was under the impression that for 2014 there was regular Darkness and the BA version.

This year is BA in bottles, there are kegs that are not BA though. Previous years bottles were never BA, some limited and special released casks may have been. This years was BA since they didn't have tank space due to trying to keep Minnesota and Chicago supplied with the staples.

Not sure what they will be doing moving forward. The new brewery will be online soon and even with expanding to Iowa and Wisconsin, they should have enough tank space for a while.

There were kegs of Non BA Darkness at the event and around the Twin Cities but all bottles are BA.
