BA Darkness in Chicago

I thought this last summer when I had both on tap. I'm still going to be a bottle or two of the BA version when it get here.

 

I love links, my friends and I go there a lot after work ( we work at the TJ's thats like a mile away).

I constantly check their menu, the real treat is the bottle menu. They sell things at second hand prices but it ain't too bad if you consider being in a chill enviroment.

Hell, the whole LP & and Wicker Park areas are p. Good beer spots. Im in the LP Whole Foods grabbing Abraxas, Big Hugs, and BCS while checking out the vintage bottles in Binnys.

If you get a chance pop into Liquor Park. Small bottle shop and they tend to carry all the Mikerphone stuff months after theyre released.

Ive had regular Darkness but wasnt super interested in it. Decent stout but per bottle cost is way too much. I only gained intrest with the BA version because in the stout thread people said it was super good. Thinking about going to links for BA darkness b4 I go work tomorrow.

 

I'd probably buy a bottle if I didn't already have so many BA stouts I need to get around to drinking.

My only issue with Wicker is what a clusterfuck it is on the weekends; going during the work week via train is no prob, but finding parking and shit during the evening on a Friday/Saturday is a huge hassle. Outside of that, I agree. Lincoln Park is like a less-congested, more spread out version; there's less good beer places per square mile (probably), but you have more room to breathe (and park). I'll definitely take a look at Liquor Park.

In terms of Darkness, I agree on the price, but it's my all-time favorite non-BA stout. I will say that this year's regular Darkness didn't blow me away; the taste was great, but the feel wasn't quite as thick as I expected (although maybe I've had too many thick BA stouts lately? Not sure.).

 

Picked mine up at Binnys on Grand this morning.

 

How much, out of curiosity?

 

I figured $25, so that makes sense.

This shit is exactly why I went to have it at Links yesterday. I've done enough of the whale-chasing the last few months!

Hmm Wonder why Grand is getting it today and no other locations in the city?

 

Next year this should go to $40 12oz formats with a "BA Darkness Day" similar to GI Black Friday at Binnys LP getting the whole allocation...

 

Grand always gets their Windy City distro on Thursdays. Not sure when everyone else does.

 

Just bought a bottle from the Willowbrook Binny's. It was hidden behind the service desk.

 

FYI Beer temple just pulled out a new case at for the 9 to 5 crowd. They have regular darkness as well.
