I know they made this in 750mL bottles, but would like some info on them. When did they make them, any ideas on bottle count, how much they were going for, etc? I've had a few 12oz and it's awesome, just curious as to if they still made it in larger format bottles still.
To my knowledge, all recent batches have been 12 oz. At least.that's all i ever see on shelves. It's a wonderful beer.
We've had 25.4 oz as recently as this past Jun/Jul/Aug out in NW suburbs of Chicago FWIW.... So, I'm assuming they'd be fresh..roughly $19
Only format I've ever seen here in VA is the 750ml format. The '12s are pretty much gone in my area, but I know of a place an hour or so west of me that is still sitting on 2011 I believe. It's interesting, because the 750's have two separate labels. I think they are different years, but may very well be the same. Someone with better knowledge of the brewery can chime in on this. Price was $18.99 everywhere ive seen it.
I'm not completely sure if there was a batch difference between the 12 oz. bottles and the 750's but I thought the large bottle format was a little flat when it came to flavor. Does anyone know how they barrel age or if Horn Dog makes its way into barrels?
I thought I had heard somewhere that Breckenridge was going to have a lock on Stranahan barrels from here on out.
Just FYI--There seems to be plenty of 12 oz bottles floating around stores here in Howard County, MD. Usually $6-8 per bottle (depending on the store).
There is a bunch of the 12oz bottles sitting on the shelf here in NE Ohio. I think they were around 5 or 6 bucks if I remember right. We used to get the large bottles, but havent seen those in a long time.
I know they still sell 750's at the brewery store in Frederick, MD - I think they were going for around $17 (a little steep IMO) 12oz bottles are still floating around stores here in Montgomery County MD as well. I bought a 750ml from a beer store here in MD a little over a year ago, but those all seemed to have sold faster. So I know they did get distributed, but no clue on the numbers. Paid $15 for it. Bought a 12oz to drink right away, aging the 750.
I've never seen it in Indiana either. Looked and tried to trade for it forever, then found three 750s sitting on the shelves at some random store north of Chicago.
Picked up a 750 this summer. Around 20 bucks. I go to this store about twice a month and had never seen it there before so i would guess that was a recent batch
FYI, they stopped shipping this to MI. We get all the regular Flying Dog stuff, but no more of this. REally disappointed since this is my favorite BA porter.
havent seen any 12s of B.A.G. here in VA, yet I've seen 3 different 750s within the last year (1 green glass and 2 brown glass bottles with different labels). go figure.
