As I get over the heartbreak of no Zhukov being available, I found myself indulging in a delicious sampler flight of beer at the brewpub. Amidst enjoying these flavorful treats, I found myself being able to enjoy some of the historical delights of ccb, as well as its current offerings. For those who are in the know, I apologize for the redundancy. For those without the experience, I hope I can summarize well enough for you to live vicariously through this for the moment. CCB is an expanding venture that spans many buildings on the same property. To use the restroom, you are "forced" to go into the brewery and see how the magic happens As you feel a little guilty for gawking at the beer **** that happens to be these fellas job, they invite you into a conversation as if to say, "thanks for appreciating what we do"! Then you settle back into your seat momentarily and find yourself in a good conversation with some informed and enjoyable locals, some bartenders who are interested in you enjoying yourself as well as some out of towners like myself who are happy to be part of the scene. California, Ohio, wisconson, Florida and Illinois all representing today, along with others I'm sure. When you feel the need to stretch out, you walk to the many buildings on site that are ready for you to simply geek out on because they are filled with beer and apparatuses (real word?) that are associated with the process. "Sorry", you say to a fork lift driver for being in their way as they work. They respond with "no problem". Really? Maybe I'm too uptight, but it was great knowing the respect level offered to patrons. The last tidbit that I MUST share is that of the 110k+OT. The beer is one I've heard of, but didn't quite understand it's origins. I will not share with you the story, but I strongly advise you to seek out a ccb employee to share it with you. I can tell you that Todd (bartender) tells a hell of a rendition. Summary/ Cliffs notes , ccb=damn enjoyable experience. Ps, I can't wait to see the upcoming artwork on the cider ( Viva Jaime!)
I believe the thread on RateBeer still exists (it predates CCB itself) that spoke of the naming origins of 110K+OT...
