So I had a trade set up with another BA, we were supposed to meet up and he dropped off for a week. Now my conversation shows "all participants have left" and it shows a line through his username. I didn't leave the conversation as far as I know. Any insight?

Things happen, lots of us are busy and life stuff intervenes. For me trading is a hobby and if a conversation drops off I don't sweat it.

We'd agreed to and opened a trade and we were trying to plan a meeting place.
Also, he hinted that he got a lot of interest a few days later and I didn't have to follow through if I didn't want to. Then he permanently leaves the conversation after not responding for a week. Even my old conversations don't show that anyone has left, so it just seemed a bit shady.

Sorry to hear that, man. I had a guy do it to me when I called him out because he kept on modifying our verbally agreed upon trade. Once I did, he left the convo permanently.

Sure, life happens, but for me, a little common courtesy from people goes a long way. Even letting you know that he was out might take a little sting off of him bailing on an agreed trade.

That said, did you use the trade system? If so, I'd leave appropriate feedback - likely bad. Reason: agreed to trade under the system and then disappeared. Some will argue no beer was lost so no big deal, but that kind of behavior from a person is something I don't want to deal with when trading.

Yeah, we used the system. It seemed like he regretted the trade, I even told him he didn't need to include the +'s he offered. The "hotness" of my bottle died a bit and I probably ended getting the better deal by a bit. I kinda understand how he feels, but I've had a couple times when I went overkill (unwittingly) and immediately agreed to a trade to only be bombarded by higher offers, but I stuck to my agreement each time. I'll just leave feedback and move on.

Leave negative feedback and say "he agreed to a deal and backed out when he got a better offer."

Come to think of it, he put the same trade up a few days after we agreed. Must've been fishing

Unless you bought or traded to get bottles for the trade (and have actually lost something), why not just move on?

Totally agree, once a trade is agreed upon if someone backs out for no good reason, time to leave bad feedback. A persons word should count for something. This helps the overall community as it is a deterrent for people wheeling and dealing for “better”offers. @whiskey , do reputable traders a favor and leave bad feedback. Trader in question didn’t even have the decency to let you know. Name them here too.

I don't disagree with you at all about the importance of common courtesy. Trust me....I know what it feels like to be ghosted (like OP). But what does it accomplish to keep going on about it? Just like when people cut you off on the highway and dont apologize or cut in front of you and dont apologize. It happens all the time. Sometimes, you just have to accept that the world is full of people that don't have courtesy.

It’s not going on forever about it. It’s a ten post thread and he has less than half of them. He was looking for feedback from the community. He says above that he’s going to leave feedback and move on. I look forward to him doing so.

I meant...why start the thread in the first place? My comment in the pet peeves thread was a great way to vent...haha But I see your point. There isnt anything wrong with looking for feedback from the community.

I started the thread because I wasn't sure what it meant when "all participants have permanently left the conversation".

That implies I left and I did not, so I didn't want to assume he had intentionally left either. This was to wait for a bit to see if maybe he was caught up in something before I jumped the gun, if he intentionally left then I know he was welshing.

Calling out bad behavior and leaving bad feedback serves as a deterrent to other people who think about pulling this kind of behavior.

Exactly this. There are a lot of people out there that would rather not trade with someone who is concerned about "winning" a trade. By knowing this, it puts the trade proposals and offers from the trader in question into perspective, being a frowned upon motive. Lets me know to not even respond to his trade requests because he could just ghost me because someone offered him better.

That guy also gave bad feedback on the OP!

I thought someone is permanently banned when they give retaliatory feedback?

Absolutely, grounds for permanent banning. @whiskey , are you aware of the bad feedback on your record? Maybe it’s time for @brocoli278 to enter this thread and share their side of story.
