I've seen the pappy barrel with my own two eyes, with a paper sign taped to it that said "Mexican Cake" (about a year ago). The variant is real, not sure if they ended up bottling it or not.

Anyone know if the tap room is open to the public for the release? I totally missed this and had planned to visit the brewery for the first time on Saturday as I am in town for business. I cannot believe the chances of this happening the only time I'll likely ever be in the area and I missed out hah.

Pure speculation but would be super sick if the "4 bottles of Bourbon Mexican Cake" included 2 bottles of regular bourbon, 1 of pappy and 1 of DB chocolate; considering they are technically all bourbon variants. I don't think this is what is happening but if so it would be awesome.

I haven't seen that specified anywhere but in past years (at least the first year I missed last year) the tap room was open even to those who did not have tickets.

So, if people only wanted a bottle or two of each. Was that option available? Not everybody can dish out $200 at the end of the month.

Great! What is the tap situation on release day? May I get lucky enough to try the BA beers or other special beers on tap? If so, would I be best served getting there right at open?

Everyone who bought a ticket did dish out $200. There was no lower bottle count option.

Tap room will be open according to Westbrook facebook. Any shares going on that night?

Me: Hey sweetie, do you remember that really awesome beer release I skipped last year because it was on your birthday?
    Girlfriend: Yeah, why?
Me: It turns out this year's release is the weekend of our anniversary.
Girlfriend: *Stares daggers in my direction*
Me: I totally get to go this time, right?
    Girlfriend: [PROFANITY REDACTED]

The things I do for love...:grinning:

Must be nice! Craft beer is no longer for average people. IMO it's kind of crappy on their part.

Not sure what it was like last year, the first year there were special taps (although the BA Cakes were not on tap, there were lots of other cool things); that year there was the regular tap room in operation and was an additional tent with a few extra taps outside (I would be almost certain that the outdoor tent is not there this year due to construction, etc). That year I also believe that all taps were started at once at the beginning of the event. I'm sure someone who was there last year can comment on how things were last year.

while not ideal, it worked well for them as they got it sold out quick and they only have to plan to hand out 6 bottles per person and not mess around with lower / odd counts.

Yeah...I had the chance to buy this, but just passed because of the cost. Maybe next year will work out better for me, we shall see.

How does the price compare to last year and years before?

Don't worry, if you don't have $200 you might still be able to buy one bottle from someone for just $150 or so.

Not likely. Pappy is likely to be only for consumption at the brewery. There just weren't many cases, and it would be hard to distribute it in a way that wouldn't piss people off. Same with DBL Choc.

Yeah, how dare a business try and make money. Damn them. This stuff should be free.

Last year was very similar to this year. $30/bottle but the allotment was 8 bottles instead of 6 so you paid $240 instead of $180.
