So, I'll say upfront that I am rather fastidious. I also take photos of each new beer (bottle) I have had, and frequently upload to the collective BA database. In the past few months to years, my perception is that I come across an increasing number of duplicate or misnomer beer entries. In other instances, beers that are clearly part of a series have inconsistent naming.

I know about the 'Report an Update' function, and use it often. However, some requests seem to go ignored. Maybe I am alone or in the minority, but the lack of accuracy is at least to me is irritating. It's as if BA is becoming more like Untappd, which is full of duplicated and nonsense vintage entries. Just peruse the Sierra Nevada listings.

Is there a need/want to deputize users to update specific breweries or regions to edit for accuracy? Does this bother anyone else out there?

I have obsessive and compulsive behaviors, but I have yet to notice this--thankfully, it would definitely bother me on a visceral level if I had. Thanks for giving me something else to worry about (in between constantly resetting my watch to match the atomic clock and throwing away any paper with more than one kind of handwriting on it).

Just keep submitting the updates, there is a small group of us that process the updates. We do out best to process them all in as timely fashion as possible.

As for the duplicates, that is currently only being handled by the Bros while they work on some tools to allow the rest of the Site Editors to handle the merge/removal of duplicates.

We are aware of these issues and are working on a solution. @Todd and I are improving the tools that are used to manage the beers and we will be making the tools more accessible.

Good to know. Just trying to do my part in keeping things up to date. Will keep submitting updates as needed.

Could you help clarify a couple things? (I've just reported them so they should be in queue)

    1) Why are beers like Armand'4 showing up on Top 250 when they haven't been brewed since 2011 (and won't again, not sure why someone updated it as "rotating")
    2) Why are beers like Firestone Walker XVIII dropping off in July when it's not yet 12 months old (I thought 1-year was policy on beers brewed once)?

Did I miss an updated to the rating system?

Well, I'm just guessing since I did not personally process any of these requests (at least as far as I can remember).

    1) I would guess that it was just an error in the processing of the request (i.e., a fat finger), they happen. Just resubmit it and it gets cleaned up.

    2) Sometimes the brewery submits an update to retire a Limited production beer before the year is up (I know that de Garde Brewing is an example of this) and we respect their requests. Just because it is retired does not mean that it cannot still be reviewed.
