Curious if this has happened to anyone else: in two separate incidences, I've witnessed a pour of BA SLH start out as a smooth, tasty pour and somehow, some time within the next 2 minutes of the pour, a coagulated goo forms in the glass (two different people). Almost looks like someone hocked a loog in the glass. Anyone experienced this? Not trying to bash Port or SLH, cuz I love the beer and pretty much anything Port brews. Just curious what's goin on here. No, I don't have a pic, and yes it did happen. Sorry if this has been posted before and I'm repeating someone else. I queried Santa's little helper and goo. Bubkus.
From brewer: "That is actually something that is from the starches in the malt. The chocolate malt, oatmeal, and roasted malts have formed a starch like substance from the high levels of beta-glucans in the wort"
Thanks! Makes it a little more palatable when there's a scientific explanation behind it. Prolly just throw it down like an agave grub.
