Really don't know a whole lot about this beer, except that I love the base version, and would love to try the barrel-aged version. Seems like it trades rather high.

    1) It's profile says that it's rotating - what time of year does it come out, how many are produced, how is it released, etc.

    2) Any recent trades that anyone can share on what it took to land one?

    3) Are there differences/more 'sought after' versions? Or are all years very similar?

    Seacrest - out. Thanks.

It seems to come out every few years, usually just a few hundred bottles, though last time was around a thousand or more... something like that. I would aim to get the most recent batch. It isn't really one to age and is good from the get go. I don't remember the exacts but I think I traded one in a package for another package including Maple Bacon Coffee Porter and Wide Awake.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this beer is released once every two years, the last coming in the summer of 2011 (it was called the 2009 vintage, named for the year the beer went into the barrels). It was a brewery-only release of about 1000 bottles or so. I traded a Fou' Foune for one shortly after the most recent release. I would say that anything older than the 2009 vintage (2011 release) is going to be tough to trade for since those bottles are 3 or more years old now and they were small releases.

It was a brewery only release. I'm getting one soon. I'm sending a DDG and am getting BA Speedway, Peche n Brett and TREAT. I'm also sending a Brandy DL for some other stuff. Very generous trader honestly, I'll be sending him some nice extras.

I traded for a 09 bottle earlier this Summer. It was a multi-bottle trade but I gave up a '12 Bourbon DL + for the 09, multiple of Silva + some others.

Enjoy that Peche n Brett! That has to be one of my favorite beers I've tried this year.

Going off the reviews of the bottled versions:

    2002 - 115 bottles
    2003 - 196 bottles
    2004 - 228 bottles
    2006 - 233 bottles
    2007 - 447 bottles
    2009 - circa 1,000 to 1,100 bottles, i can't recall

Some of the 2006 reviews list it as being out of 235 bottles.

There were two releases of the 2006 vintage, one with silk screened labels, and one with paper labels. That's why that discrepancy exists.

It was also released in 2010 (the 2008 vintage, I guess), but it was draft and growler only.

Well I very much enjoyed the 2009 vintage bottle i split with my buddy. I would say if you are trying it for the first time go for it. Maybe a tasting with some friends would be the best way to try it without having to send a 50lb box somewhere. Stockpiling this beer, at least for me, would cost way too much, i sent a B2 CR and KH (in the early early days of KH) for the bottle and I have to say that both parties were happy.

Release is pretty random. I traded mine + a non-BA Speedway away to an overly generous trader for an '09-'11 Dark Lord and a '10 MOAS. Truthfully, I like straight up Speedway better, but to each his/her own.

I have wanted to try the BA Speedway for awhile now. If it doesn't happen I'll have to live with it.

It's worth a try if you can get it in a reasonable trade but after having it once I can say its not good enough to justify trading for it again.

I haven't had it either, but recently Alesmith had "Brewers Blend" BA Speedway and same but with Vietnamese Coffee on tap. Releasing the blends make me think a bottle release is close. From what I tasted, it's gonna be worth the wait. Stuff competes with all the BA stouts I have had so far.

The release should be imminent. The full BA version is probably my favorite beer, the Brewer's Blend a little less so. I heard they're releasing the Brewer's Blend this year in bottles.

The coffee version was excellent. Was pretty happy to see it on the list at the tasting room.
