I think I speak for all West coasters when I say we only drink schwartzbiers.

40+ years in Upstate NY, 12+years in PNW. Haven't shaved since January of '79, but the trim levels vary. No tats or piercings. Carry some extra beer with me. Like all styles, but love Belgians and Old Ales. Get a little bored with hoppy beers, and a lot of breweries around here over-hop a lot of their brews, but that's changing to an extent. I'm glad that the 3 breweries within a 15 minute walk of my place brew a nice variety of ales, and one of them brews some truly world class lagers. I drink 'em all!

I have plenty of tattoos, I'm overweight, I listen to metal, and only shave when I am required to. I guess I don't fit in at all :slight_frown:

I actually really agree with weather. As someone who was born and raised on the east coast, then moved to SoCal 5 years ago I definitely find myself craving hoppier stuff more than I did back east. I've definitely blamed the weather partly

This one piqued my curiosity. What event caused beertunes to stop shaving? Emerson, Lake & Palmer disbanding? The premier of The Dukes of Hazzard? The beginning of Sid Vicious's murder trial? The U.S. and China opening diplomatic relations? The Today Show getting a new theme song? Wait a minute... I think I know. The Hillside Strangler was arrested in... Bellingham. The plot thickens.

Sadly, the truth is much more mundane. I was dating a girl, and she preferred me shaven. She dumped me. I'm lazy, so stopped shaving. At 5 minutes a day, I figure I've slept over another month, just by not shaving. I'm very lazy.

Midwesterner here. We are totally homers. No doubt. You know why? We have it going on.

We have spent a long time being called "flyover country" by the coasts, and we know we are producing beer that meets or beats anything on the coasts now. I live in a state that is in the top rank in terms of number of breweries and quality of our beer.

We are a proud, defiant people.

And fuck you, my beard makes me look dignified.

Top rank, huh? 114 breweries for 9.9 million? Sorry bro. Washington has 174 breweries for 6.9 million. Colorado has 160 breweries for 5.1 million. Oregon has 146 breweries for 3.9 million. Sorry, but you still have some work to do.
P.S. I was born and raised in "flyover country"... it's a great place to be from.

And Good People, Back40, Cigar City, Sweetwater, Terrapin, Wild Heaven, Thomas Creek, Schlafly, etc etc....

So there's another stereotype - "there's no craft beer in the South", despite there being a thriving craft beer scene that is growing explosively.

Darn right I'm a homer! California is home to some great Ambers, IPAs, and Porters. Also, cask conditioned ales are readily available in the greater Los Angeles/San Diego area.

I'd have to agree, we are loyal to our own. I will say that German imports are pretty popular in these parts as well.
