I live fairly close to Bigby's and am in there pretty often; I can try to reach out about bringing stuff in when I have a chance over the next couple of weeks (or by Facebook/Twitter). Today, though, I'm going to be over at Solemn Oath, enjoying their new IPA and a Peruvian coffee infused version of their milk stout.

How is the new IPA? Thinking about swinging by for a growler or two in upcoming week.

Ah bugger! I was thinking of heading over to Solemn Oath tomorrow. Been meaning to visit for a while.

I'd appreciate you looking into Bigby's the next time you happen to be over there/in contact with them. I'll keep trying to think of a place that might be open to letting us bring some bottles in. In the meanwhile though, if anyone wants to plan a meetup at somewhere like Bavarian "just because," let me know and I'll be there!

I'll hopefully check in with Bigby's before the weekend is out; already sent them a message on twitter/facebook to see if I can get some instant feedback. I'm not likely to get to Lunar until next week at the earliest, so if someone else stops by they might want to ask. That said, I'm down for a meetup regardless of a chance to bottleshare. Haven't been to the Lodge in a long time.

As for Solemn Oath, Snaggletooth Bandana (the new IPA) is very nice and very heavy on the citrus; my wife asked the hop bill but I promptly forgot the answer she was given. I have a growler sitting in the fridge for more rigorous taste testing. However, I think the Nourri au Cafe (coffee milk stout) was probably the winner of the two for me. Silky smooth cold pressed coffee flavor that got better as it warmed up. That said I think the star of the Solemn Oath lineup thus far for me has been Khlorost, the coffee-infused wit. The flavors really dovetailed harmoniously and you definitely got the distinct character of the beans in an up-front way. In any case, Solemn Oath is a welcome addition to the scene out here for sure.

I'm new to the area, moved from St. Paul, and would be very interested in doing a bottle share and meet some local BAs. Add me to this list!!

Count me in...In SE Aurora. Have a couple connections at TapHouse so could see if they are open to it.

FYI I heard from a guy that the old Limestone was bought by Tommy Nevin's who is now getting into brewing their own beer. They sent one of their managers to "brew school" and he is going to start soon.

I'd be interested if it's before I move back into the city for school. I'm in North Aurora until Aug 24th

Edit: I'd also be more interested in a bottle share rather than a bar meet up, need to thin the cellar

Man, I am so happy I started this thread. So many enthusiasts ready and rearin' to go!

    So here's the plan:

It sounds like there are a few people with potential meetup spots out there already. If possible, get word to me by the end of the month on whether or not they'd be open to a bottle share. If we can't figure out something within the next week for a share, then we'll go ahead with a bar meetup just so we can meet in person and chat IRL.

When speaking to prospective places let them know that we will probably have somewhere between 10 and 20 people (judging by unique posts above).

I'm going to set an initial meetup date of Saturday August 18th @ 5pm. If there is enough conflict we can change, but I'd like to set something in stone so people can start planning for it in advance.

That works for me! Also might not be a bad idea for someone (I'd do it but I have very limited knowledge in google docs) to set up a spreadsheet of what everyone might bring so we don't all show up with multiples

PS that is of course if we do a bottle share and not a bar meetup

I'm in for this bitch. I would even be willing to host, although I couldn't be more than 10 people or so. I live in Aurora at about New York and Eola.

A bottle share at a bar would be cool as well. I use to go to the GI Clybourne bottle share. It was nice but hard getting home after all that good beer. A closer location would be awesome.

If people are interested in a bottle share at my place, let me know and I can set it up.

I would think that Bigby's allows you to bring your own bottles to some extent. I figure that is how they get the empty dark lords, jai alai's, and tocobago reds they have on their shelves. Same for Lunar and their little table near the bathrooms with rare beers. I'm down for a bottle share at either place as I live near both and could bring a buddy or two with nice cellars too.
