If anyone can give me confirmation on Bigby's or Lunar for the 18th that'd be sweet. If we need to make some sort of special arrangements let me know and I can give them a call... but if we can just show up and take over then so be it!

I have put together a spreadsheet. There will be columns for your name, BA handle, and email. I will add a column with a date each time we do a tasting so that we can record not only what we are bringing, but also have a record of what we've tasted/brought. Furthermore, if you meet someone you'd like to trade with or grab a brew with in the future you'll have access to their email.

I do need you to email me with your first name, BA handle, and the address you'd like on the spreadsheet. I can keep this document private so that only people who I add have access to view it. I will then send you a link to the doc which you will be able to access at any time once I add you.

    My email: [email protected]

Feel free to email me any time with questions/requests!

ALSO! Please send me the beer you'd like to bring too! For the moment I will maintain control over edits to the list, so I'll need all the info to fill in.

While I know I probably don't have to say this, I'll say it anyway!

It is up to you what you'd like to bring to the tasting, but I think we're all operating under the understanding that it will be something at least somewhat limited. It doesn't have to be a Bourbon-Barrel Aged Dark Lord with Vanilla... although that would be mighty appreciated! :stuck_out_tongue: Just use your best judgement and don't feel pressured to bust out your most prized beer just because the guy with 20 King Henry's decided to share one. Savvy?

You'll also be able to get an idea of what will be there once I start getting emails about what people are bringing.

I have the first group of emailers up on the spreadsheet and emails should have gone out that you are now able to view the list!

    Contributions put forth thus far:
Abacus or Parabola '12, DL and BCBS vintages/variations, Cascade the Vine and Barrel Roll #4 Hammerhead

About to send the email but since this is the first time I will be doing a tasting with actual advocates... I am not sure what level of beer to bring.

I just got a couple bombers from Pretty Things from Providence's LIF. I think that might be a good venue to pop them open and try. Would that work?

Once you email him he'll send you the spreadsheet of whos going and what they're bringing. I have a couple beers listed but if we want to turn this into a cellar dick swinging contest that'd be great for everyone!

Edit: Also if we want to wait until our 2nd meet up to really bring out the guns (just to wait and see if we aren't all jerks :stuck_out_tongue: ) that doesn't sound like a bad idea either

So.... Everyone planning on a decently heavy hitter but not quite whale territory?

I figured I'd bring some good stuff from my cellar but honestly I'm just up for trying anything I haven't had before, rarity/status aside. I'm just as cool with people bringing a few of something relatively common but tasty as I am with people bringing their massive brass balls beer. It's all about variety!

If we want to in the future we could decide on a style/theme for future bottleshares, which might keep things reasonable, you know?

I think a theme in the future would be great! For this first group though I just want to get everyone together and have a good time with good beer. If things go well we can get serious about themes and regular/rotation destinations etc.

As for what to bring, man, the things people are laying down are all over the place in terms of rarity. The good thing about this kind of meetup is that it is an opportunity for both seasoned and newbie beer aficionados to taste a variety of things that either they didn't think of buying, or perhaps weren't able to acquire. Chances are if someone brings say a Dark Lord, well they probably have more than one, and they've probably tasted many before.

My advice is to bring something you've been itching to try. If you feel uncomfortable bringing a whale, or aren't sure if you want to open something yet... then use your best judgment.

*****The hunt continues for a confirmed place to host us, but I am confident we'll find a good spot!*****

    ***UPDATE***

I just added a bunch of names to the spreadsheet and sent out emails to those added. So far we have 14 people on the list (Metempsychosis = 2 ).

Some of the new beers added: RR varieties, Pretty Things Jack D'or, Sierra Nevada 30th, BA Flossmoor stuff

*****I have checked my BA messages, email inbox, and junk e-mail folders, but if you have still not gotten a confirmation email from me with the link, let me know!*****

I'm in! Adam I emailed you about a little problem accessing the google docs page. I know Bigby's is packed on Friday and Saturday nights, the 18th being a Saturday. I've actually been denied entry on a Friday night before with about four other people. Plus their capacity is only like 49 people, but that was before they had the patio so things may have changed, just a heads up. Let's get the ball rolling, I feel like the sooner the better.

I spoke with a co-worker that frequents The Lunar yesterday.

He said they already allow a tasting group to use the back area the first Saturday of every month provided they all pitch in a few bucks to tip bartenders/wait staff...

I guess the group is call "the cellar dwellers."
