I have a couple of questions that I am hoping to have answered here. 1. Was this a once-only release, or has it been released more than once? 2. Was this actually bottled by Oscar Blues? If so, how many bottles were released? 3. Has anyone completed a trade for this stuff? If so, would you mind sharing what it took to get it done? Any help on these questions would be much appreciated, thanks in advance!
There were very expensive kegs that were distributed in the carolinas.. CBX and Laura Alberts took their kegs and filled 22oz bottles.. They were counter pressure filled and waxed.. I was lucky enough to be in Charleston that weekend to get a bottle from CBX.. I then traded for a few more bottles and cracked them at events and traded one of them away.. I only have one CBX bottle left .. I got the BA Ten Fidy by trading away a lot of Olde rabbit foots.. I traded one of my BA Ten Fidy for CBS when the hype was really high for that beer..
I was at Oskar Blues yesterday drinking a Ten Fidy. I asked them if they ever did a BA version.... I got a blank stare. Nice to know its been done
Would like to try that . Read about the Two Brothers Hop juice Fest yesterday and saw that they had a keg of Wild Turkey Ten Fidy . Don't know when it was brewed .
Between a friend and I we wound up with 3 of the Cbx bombers. I traded one for a darkness and some other surly stuff, I gave one away in a BIF, and we drank one. Great stuff.
at one point in time this was my personal whale. i found someone cool who had gotten one in trade that he wanted to flip for some of his favorite beers. i sent him 2 black butte XXIs and a 4 pack of BB4D and a few nice extras. we've since traded other times and it was a great tick to hit at a great tasting and a great trading relationship kick off. i've learned that this was offered locally for growler fills but all local stores passed on it, since growlers would've needed to be north of $80. they used to pop up every now and then in the trade forums...pretty sure one was in one of those recent unwanted whale BIFs. i think that there are still some out there and i really dug it and was glad i got to try it, but it wasn't earth shattering and it wasn't cheap.
I came across a bottle of BA Ten Fidy a year or two ago. It was a 375ml bottle, with an actual BA Ten Fidy label. Im not sure where it came from, just one I acquired in a trade...
I doubt it bothered them. CBX took every step needed to properly bottle it. They are a store known best for having a high-end growler station, and instead of filling growlers and having to sell them for crazy prices, they put them in 22s. No big deal really.
it's been a while, but i'm 99.9% sure CBX got oskar blues blessing to do this. those guys don't fuck around and definitely aren't looking to step on any breweries toes. mike
