I asked on Twitter wheather it was bourbon or port barrels, and they told me it was aged in Carcavelos Barrels with chilis, and that they are working on changing some of the descriptions on the website.

    Looks like carcavelos is wine.

I'm not sure how the wine barrel would play out with the spiciness. Anyone have one yet?

I'm thinking the port barrels' primary contribution will be some added sweetness to play against the spice/heat? of the peppers, and then we should see some added complexity to the malt character. I don't really care for port, but I'd imagine the barrels are great for aging beer since they can impart tons of flavor without turning the beer into a complete alcohol bomb.

Carcavelos can be a blend of up to nine different grapes.[3] The principal grapes of the Carcavelos region includes Arinto, Boal, Galego Dourado, Negra Mole,Trincadeira and Torneiro .[1] The wines are usually fermented completely dry with some fermenting must known as the vinho abafado containing some residual sugar set aside prior to the fermentation's completion. The wine is fortified with a distilledgrape spirit to bring the wine up to an alcohol level of 18-20% and thevinho abafado is added back in to add sweetness to the wine. Carcavelos wines are then aged in oak barrels for three to five years to give the wines a tawny color and nutty flavor.[3]

You present a good point. As of last night around 7ish they still had bottles left and there was no wait.

I had conquistador Porto on tap at the brewery about 2 years ago, similar to the other muretes fresh, but has a very sweet wine note on the back end. Really enjoyed it. Might be my favorite non dark lord ba beer from them

Bottles are not sold in any sort of order. They are numbered and put in cases. Then randomly stacked in cold storage. The guy working the kiosk then randomly pulls boxes from the storage.

Chick who sold me the bottle behind the counter. Reliable? who knows. But she works there, so...

    Not my buddy this time.

Is @Lansman still around to update the OP?

Also this below should be attached to the OP since every time a new bottle is released from FFF, the question to this answer is asked.

You guys seem to be on top of what is available at FFF. I was thinking about making a 7hr trip from KY to pick up some Zombie Dust. I know there is no guarantee but are there days of the week that it is usually available? Is the max 2 cases? Is the "Beers To Go" fairly reliable for current stock? How long does it usually last?

I I have been able to buy a total of about 8 bottles at my local store over the last year. I would really like to maximize my changes of getting at least 1 case since this will be a 14h trip. Thanks for your help.

Wednesday and Thursdays seems to have it most often. Pretty sure it became available last night and is still for sale today.

The Beers To Go section on the website is pretty accurate. With Zombie Dust it usually goes on sale a couple hours before they update the website though. There are no guarantees, sometimes it goes on sale on a Monday, or a Saturday... Two case limit sounds right.

ZD usually lasts a day or two. Sometimes it makes it to a third day. Sometimes it sells out in one day.
