Has anyone tried to tackle the entire list? How far have you gotten?

Nobody has. you'd be the first. do it in 30 days or less and you get a free tee shirt.

    /sarcasm

there are a few posts about this and the numbers vary. the 250 top beers always changes, so its hard to complete over time.

I've got 89 ticked off. I doubt that I'll even hit 200. Some are just too hard to acquire.

^ this. Plus some of the beers on that list are next to impossible to get unless you have a cellar full of whales, that are also on the list and next to impossible to get.

Edit: I was referring to markdrinksbeer's post.

I checked the list last month, of the 250 only 37 reach Alabama, and of those I've had 19. I also am not interested in a lot of the beers on the list so I don't see myself striving to mark more off the list.

Start with the 250 Beers of Fame list, http://www.beeradvocate.com/lists/fame/

Get a taste for the classics. As an added bonus you can even get some of these at your leisure when you decide like having one!

It's a dynamic list that's ever-changing. Even if you spent a LOT of time trading and drinking, it's quite the undertaking. For that matter, you might end up really really working to get some beers only to watch them get replaced by something straight off the shelf (and vice versa).
Back when the list was only the top 100 and was a bit closer to the "beers of fame" I had tried all but a handful. Now I bet I haven't had half of them. For that matter, I don't know even know the acronyms for most of them :stuck_out_tongue:

I'm sure there are some committed enough to have attempted it, and maybe even completed it. But it would require a lot of work. If you're not into trading (and/or don't have access to a brewery that has a lot of pull on the trading front), it's pretty much not going to happen.

Last time I checked a few months ago, I'd done around 130 of them. But I'm sure that number is a lot smaller now - it's always changing

The old list, that required more reviews, was doable. I remember quite a lot of people were able to complete that one.

Beers of fame is something you can target though.

Edit - just checked and I'm down to 113

Did you bother to look at the list before posting the link? BoF is now 250 beers.

I've had 70 and have 3 on the list that I have yet to open.
I seriously doubt that I will ever get past 100. The thrill of chasing these down is quickly leaving me

Yeah, that list is much more attainable. Also, it leaves off one-time releases. For instance, I've had or currently own 101 of the top 250, but I only consider 7 of the remaining 149 to be relatively easy to acquire. Whereas I've had 119 of the 250 beers of fame, and I only consider 28 of the remaining 131 to be hard to get.

I was trying to do it when it was 100, (got up to ~76), but now it got all shifted around and added plenty of more stuff I'd have a hard time getting a hold of. Not worth it anymore, I'm just going to drink some beer.

Its also worth noting that I , presumably like many others have had beers not from the "top 250", which We/I would consider to be better than ## beer in the top 50. (Im looking at you FBS #22? reaaacchhhhh)

I've had 60 of the Top 250 and have another 23 waiting to be opened, plus 5 or 6 more on their way in from trades. I'd consider getting to half the list a pretty big accomplishment given the ultra-rarity of some of the listings and I'm pretty proud of having the top 6 and 10 of the top 25 covered.

I am too refined a drinker to consider drinking anything on the bottom half of this list.

100 of the Beers of Fame rated, with about 25 more in the fridge and another 25 that I'm pretty confident I could get on an errand with only one or two stops required to find it.

108 of the top 250 list, and 150 out of 250 on the beers of fame list.

.......and about 48 on the bottom 100

Why the hell do you have so many good beers sitting in your fridge that you aren't drinking?
