It's a popularity contest for the most part. Most of the beers you can't/won't find..

I've had probably 50 or 60 of them. I consider myself lucky to have that many.

It turns out that I've had 75. There were about 12 other beers on the list that I can get, but have not yet tried. Life's a marathon.

I've had 249 of 250 (Beers of Fame) and 198 of 250 (Top 250 Beers) on the current lists.

when i first started drinking craft heavily i didnt know where to start, so i started on the top 100 popular beers, which was like a mix of beers of fame and the current top 100. lots of beers of fame deserve their place on the list and a lot are possible to drink no matter where you live.

@koopa , which beer of fame are u missing?

I'd actually set a goal to complete this in 2014. I'm at 168 now, and felt like I could possibly pull it off. But I just went through the remaining beers, and it looks like Chillwave was a February release. I just think it would be hilarious if Chillwave was the one that kept me from completing the full list this year!

I've rated 35, but have tasted or possess another 50 or so. Sometimes like to try a beer multiple times if possible before reviewing.

Completing the entire list is obviously not an easy task with all the limited regional stuff mixed with the absurdly rare bottles.
I think taking a snap shot of the list in January and trying to tick them all off by years end is possible....But not really.
Would cost probably $10K+ to aquire these, with either a lot of trading and/or travel.

Y'all jokers think you can get it, but I'm going to register 12,000 screen names and vote Big Flats into the top 250, humping all you whale chasers into submission.

Even if it were possible, it'd take you forever to finally get to 250 and then the next day the list will change and you'll go back down to 240 or something. How satisfying would that be?

How am I supposed to be a pretentious snob when I am chasing the beers everyone else is drinking? :grimacing:

Looking at the list there should really be a top 250 of retired beers. That would be a fun one to see

I agree it would be nice. Some beers that are one offs, eventually come off the list..

169, without any conscious effort at the list. And I would be just shy of 200 if I had just put more effort into Hill Farmstead and Toppling Goliath. HF, I picked up on almost immediately, but after a couple that showed up at shares in CA years ago, I never saw any again and I can't easily attain them. TG, on the other had is all stuff that, while not distributed here, wouldn't be that hard at all for me to get. I keep hearing that they are always about to distribute here, so I never bother driving next door to get them.

Which BOF are you missing? But I have 33 of the top 250 and a bunch of the BOF but have only a few rated.
