Was looking to try some more of this particular style.

    Any recommendations?

    Founders Backwoods Bastard.

Get some, that's the only one you need. I promise.

Hmmm. Will avoid any debate on style and would recommend Orkney SkullSplitter
Black Isle Export Scotch Ale (Small batch) if you can find them.

AleSmith's is fantastic, but a bitch to find. Tyranena's Shaggin' In the Wood is really nice, as well as Backwoods Bastard. One of my favorite styles of late! Have a couple others that I need to get to drinking!

I don't know how far they send those kegs, but Oskar Blues has Leopold Brothers, Buffalo Trace, and Stranahans barrel versions of Old Chub.

Hoppin' Frog just released a barrel-aged version of their Outta Kilter Wee-Heavy. I haven't tried it yet though..

If you want the real deal Scottish stuff, seek out Orkney Skullsplitter or, even better, Traquair House Ale if you could find it.

If you want the Americanized stuff, Founder's Backwoods Bastard and Oskar Blues Old Chub are bad ass.

Oh yeah - there are (or have been) barrel aged versions of Cigar City Big Sound. While that one flies under the radar a bit, it might be my favorite "Americanized" Scotch Ale.

Stay away from Flossmoor Barrel Aged Finlaggin Scotch Ale, that one is disappointing.

The Shoreline Big Bella heavy scotch ales aged in barrels are all pretty amazing.

These were all fairly limited releases though, so they take some effort to procure.

Is that going to come outside of the brewery?

If not who wants to grab this guy one?

    Did they bottle it?

I'm not positive if it'll make it into distribution or not. I'm guessing yes, because all of their brewery releases eventually make it into distribution, but I'm not positive..

Nah. Actually, I don't think OB bottles anything, but they don't can those either. At the same time, they do send kegs all over the place and the different barrel aged Old Chub variations aren't uncommon.

AleSmith's Wee Heavy and Backwoods Bastard are my faves; Dirty Bastard and Skullsplitter are next in line.
