I tried this for the first time and It has my attention, I really enjoyed this.

 

Aged 3 months instead of 7. I wonder if that makes any diffrence.

 

BCBS is aged 100 days. Guessing 10 days less won't hurt much.

 

I thought BCBS is aged approx a year

 

was it previously aged 7?

 

I have a bottle of batch 3 (the current release) sitting in front of me and it is states that it was aged for 7 months.

 

Current batch is supposed to be batch 7 according to there website. But I yet have to get a bottle myself since im at work.

 

where are y'all getting your bottles?

 

Interesting. I purchased my bottles from the Stone online store figuring these would be the current bottles. I guess not. My bottles were bottled in July '15.

 

i didn't know there was a stone online store. i guess i'll keep that in mind for next time.

 

The Stone online store is a new thing. They just started it a few weeks back I believe.

 

That's misinformation. BCBS is aged for at least a year, it sees all 4 seasons in the barrel. The temp fluctuations of the seasons in their non temp controlled warehouse help extract the flavor into the beer. 100 days wouldn't be anywhere near enough time to get that kind of barrel flavor into a beer.

 

I believe it's 8-10 months in barrels. They usually get a fresh batch brewed Dec/January-ish and then age until August/September.

 

just picked up some bottles from the pasadena tasting room. they have plenty if anyone is looking for some. they are batch 7 and they say 3 months aging on the back. i also tried a pour from draft, and it wasn't as exceptional as i remember it being at the anniversary, but i my objectivity was definitely tainted by knowing it was only aged half the time. i guess it beats accidentally making more locoveza.

 

Yeah just looked it up it's aged 8-12 months.

 

Are the bottles still $18/500ml for half the time in barrels or are they less expensive?

 

Just to confirm what @RJS83 said above, my bottles (ordered from Stone's online store) are Batch #3, aged 7 months. I'm actually glad—I was feeling stupid for having paid the extra shipping cost for something I could've just gotten in stores a few weeks later... but turns out, I couldn't have.

I bought 3 online the day the put out that email about it coming soon and wondered what the deal was because it said they wouldn't be around until this week. Got them the next day, all 7 months bottled July '15.
