So I was here about a month ago and asked about a good introductory IPA from a Bama brewery, and got some great advice. Now I'm back for more. I've dove in head first, and tried a bunch of different IPA's from good people's to monkeynaut to the Tuscaloosa brewery's and a few out of state brews (loved em all).

The last one I had and might be currently drinking is Stone's Arrogant Bastard, and while it's big I want more. So what I'm asking is what's the biggest, angriest, hoppiest beer that's readily available in Alabama. I'm going to put a couple of constraints on this because I'm what amounts to a nearly broke college student. So if possible keep recommendations under about 12-13 per 6 pack or 8-9 for a bomber.

Also I'll be in Tennessee next week so if you know of something up there but not here fire away.

    Thanks

Although Arrogant Bastard is not an IPA it's still a grear beer. If you like it try Double Bastard.

As for next step in an IPA...a Double IPA is what you should try. Some are sweet and actually lean a bit toward a barleywine. Try Weedy's by Blue Pants (my personal favorite), Snakehandler by Good People or Gorillanaut by Straight to Ale (I dont think this one is out right now) Some out of state ones to try are Ruination by Stone, Dorado by Ballast Point, and Maximus by Lagunitas.

    Enjoy!

If you want a great hoppy beer at a low price try Hop Stoppid by Lagunitus. Around me they are only 3.99 a bomber- 4.99 max. The value can't be beat.

You're right it's a strong ale, I guess I got it in my head somewhere that it was like a red IPA or something like that I don't know.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for one of the laugunitus that were mentioned since the price for that seems pretty solid. Other then that I'll grab any stone stuff I see. I also had their delicious IPA a little while back which was unironically delicious.

    thanks guys.

I think Yellowhammer also has 4-packs coming out of their DIPA soon as well

If you can get it right now try an Old Guardian - Extra Hoppy by Stone, I think you'll enjoy it since you like Arrogant Bastard and IPAs.

So I was looking around and saw that a few of the stores around where I'll be in Tennessee next week should be getting some of Stone's enjoy by 4, 20. I'd love to try and get some to share with my dad while I'm there. He's a huge beer guy and from what I can tell he's tried damn near everything under the sun so I'd love to surprise him with something that might be possibly new for him. (Also it's right up the ally of what I'm wanting to try).

The thing is I've never gotten anything that's limited in release before and I'm not really sure what the protocol is. Should I call ahead and try to have them set some aside for me, or do I just have to show up and hope for the best. Or will this even be a big enough deal where it would matter?

Also I'm assuming that they will have it by the end of next week if they are bottling on Saturday, right?

What part of Tenn are you heading too?? If its nashville maybe we can work out a small in person trade for the Stone enjoy by for things alabama gets that we dont up here. Like prairie stuff, bells or semi fresh ballast point stuff. Might even have a few other ipas to throw in for you to try from other areas.

He's just going to have that person pay the freight for him.

But, yeah, that is a fantastic beer. My favorite IIPA.
