Well after a 5 month hiatus I'm finally back to brewing. A second son can do that to you. Got some 2013 bulk hops including Amarillo, cascade, citra, simcoe, and centennial. I see a big aromatic IPA in my near future! And then many pales and ambers too! The itch is back although it never went away (just my homebrew did).

All of those hops are amazing in their own right, I just brewed a DIPA last Thursday including all of them plus a few more. When put together they can create something phenomenal. Late boil/dry hop with those Citra and Amarillo!

Most of all congrats on another addition to the family! He'll be adding hop additions to your boils in no time!

I think they make a creme for that.

(Actually I have the itch too. My "fermentation freezer" is full of too much beer that I can't fit my carboy in it.)

You have been gone a while. So fire up your Picobrew Zymatic and get back at it!

Ya probably a bit overboard on the hops. I do like brewing all sorts of styles but these are definitely most conducive to IPAs and hoppy pales/ambers. Oh well. After all these years of brewing I still think a fresh well made homebrewed IPA beats most commercial anyday.

A BIG +1 to: “After all these years of brewing I still think a fresh well made homebrewed IPA beats most commercial anyday.” While I am a big fan of IPAs like Flower Power, Union Jack, Two Hearted, Head Hunter, etc. I really think my homebrewed IPAs are the equal of these (and often better). I think that “fresh” is key here.

I have a few bottles of a Simcoe/Amarillo hopped IPA left. That batch turned out EXCELLENT. It is my version of an Alpine Duet beer.

Welcome back to brewing and congratulations to the new addition to your family.

    Cheers!
