I was thinking specifically of alcohol marketed as being a "bitter" (the English word) or "aperitivo" rather than alcohol marketed as amaro. e.g: Meletti Bitter, Luxardo Bitter, Contratto Bitter, etc. The name takes the same form as English ales: Adnams Bitter, Bluebird Bitter, Sussex Bitter, etc. Things like Peychaud's Bitters follow the plural convention. Apologies for going off-topic, but at least for me this is an example of beer conversation getting "back to basics."

Just a quick note to observe that beers aren't being squeezed off the shelf by other beers. If you find fewer beers styles you like it is because many/most of your neighbors don't like the styles you like.

Good call, Dave. It’s the simple workings of a business isn’t it?

Well, there are brewers who don't care at all about making a profit, or what styles customers want to buy. They're called home brewers

Yeah those would be the only ones too. But on the subject of stores carrying particular items, they all stock shelves for the same reason. To sell products.

This article is a few months old, but it just came across my news feed.

Great insight on the development of Light Hearted -- and great insight on "innovation" from a manager of, well -- yeah, innovation.

BTW -- I also love the depiction of a discussion between a sales & marketing team and the brewers. Kinda' confirms some suspicions about marketers.
