http://www.craftdraughts.com/events.html Backacre Batch 8 Bottle Release Plus Owner Reserve Tasting & Sale Friday, October 21st If you haven't tried the next big thing in beers - sours - this is your chance to taste what all the excitement is about. Not only will you be able to be one of the first to taste the newest batch, you will also be able to sample some vintage bottles that John will bring in just for this event. Owner reserve bottles of batches 2, 4 & 6 will also be available for sale. Each bottle of Backacre has been barrel aged and then blended from different barrels to achieve a refreshing balance of tart, fruity, and earthy elements. Once in the bottle it will keep for years in a cool, dark cellar. Backacre released their first batch in 2012 and since then have earned top ratings of 99 from RateBeer and 92 from Beeradvocate. Hadn't seen it mentioned & this is one of those events that I wish lined up with a VT run. Was lucky enough to trip over some Backacre at Hunger Mountain a year or so ago and IMHO it's the real deal.
I've heard very little chatter on here about backacre. I've only tried it once, and I don't know which blend it was, but it was very good stuff. Reminded me more of belgian lambics and guezes than most american wild ales.
On sale at Hunger Mountain Coop today. About two cases left at 3pm. 2pp, $20. No one seemed to notice.
