+1 Even 6 months is too much imo. It turns into a liquid tootsie roll imo.

Had to remind my local craft shop that this beer is dropping soon..apparently he thought the release was ' shortly after KBS '.

Ahhh the things two minutes of research and a quick link can accomplish.

Always shocks me what these bottle shop employees DON'T know. If you are a craft store, it should be their business to be aware of the big releases in their distribution, IMO.

Haha welcome to Southeast Michigan. I spoke directly to the owner about it. He isn't exactly what I would call knowledgeable but he's an alright guy.

I often ask him about beers I already know everything about just to see how he wings the response and I'm an asshole anyway

Disagree. Had a 4 year vertical last year and I enjoyed the 2012 the best. Too hot right off the bat IMO and the 2011 was a bit too oxidized for my liking. The one that was aged for two years had that sweet spot of slight oxidation while still displaying plenty of bourbon barrel notes.

This is good to hear. I just had a 2014 and thought it was great, and still have one more left that I thought I'd let hang around longer. Hoping to score a 4-pack of this year's and hold onto longer as well.

I've seen (and purchased) both Harvest Ale and BWB in NY within the past 3 days. BWB has definitely gone up in ABV as indicated by the label on the case and the bottles. I haven't had one yet, but will be trying soon.

Definitely way earlier this year than expected. Usually BWB drops in Long Island around mid-Nov. Even Harvest Ale arrived less than 2 weeks old. Last year it didn't show up until 5-6 weeks old.

    Not complaining.

My shop in Venice will have Harvest Ale today, and we have plenty of FBS in stock. No word yet on BB arrival.

Couldn't disagree more. A buddy and I did a back-to-back comparison of 2013 and 2014 in September and both agreed 2013 was better. Perhaps the batch was better, but I think it was the age.

2012 was a fantastic year of backwoods, I am still sitting on close to a case for that very reason. I had a 2014 last night, plenty of carbonation and a lovely bourbon overtone without being too thin or sweet
