Backwoods Bastard 2016

Yeah, usually November and I wonder if the ABV will be as high as last year or drop back into the 10s like it used to be. I certainly did not mind the alcohol bump...

 

One of my local stores still has a few 4 packs from last year... I may get a fresh 4 pack, though.

 

Just a hip shot from memory until I get home to see the box but believe my case was dated around Oct 8th last year. Such a great beer to sip on all through the winter, so it would appear another road trip to Founders is in store very soon for me. Thanks for the post OP.

 

Looking at my messaging history I see that last year a local bottle shop posted that they got it in on 10/26

 

So it's now out, and clocks in at 11.2% ABV. A little different taste this year, to me anyways. Seems less sweet, and more heat. But that could just from it being 2 weeks old. Price is still the same as I paid last year $14.99 a 4/pack


Anyone else try this years BB?

 

I am surprisingly bad at paying attention to when this beer is releases, especially since it is a perennial favorite of mine. Glad to hear it's out though and now time to see which of my regular trade partners will be grabbing some for me!

 

Already picked up a case dare I say this is my favorite founders beer that they regularly bottle

 

Just called my two most reliable bottle shops and neither one has it so far, so I guess Ann Arbor/SE MI is going to have to wait a bit for this to show up

 

Early November in Southwest Ohio, according to my beer store.

 

From my understanding, this may have more to do with our distributors than with Founders.

In any case, if this release is anything like last year's, we'll have plenty of opportunities to snag as much of this as we like over the course of the next month. I recall stores receiving multiple shipments and no limits.

 

And in fairness, I'm pretty sure we (Michigan) saw Harvest Ale--a beer for which timing actually matters, unlike BB--before anyone else.

I picked up some up 4 days after bottling last week.

 

I look forward to having this again.

 

One local store still had some BB in March. We still have 2015 FBS on shelves and one store brought in a truck full in July and sold them for $20/case. Either Founders is selling poorly here, or selling so well they're trucking in regional overstock.

 

Was just told it hit S. California this week.....The local bottle shop posted on FB they will have something good coming in Monday....Possibility its Backwoods?...They wouldn't say....

Pretty sad that we wouldn't get it before Southern California 2000mi away...But ready to stock up when it does hit

 

It also costs more here, 18-20.00 per four pack, and I have seen it as high as 24.00.

I'm hoping this is the year where Backwoods is so plentiful, you can walk away from those shops that overcharge and pick up Backwoods easily somewhere else. If that happens, I will be sure to tell those high priced shops why I'm leaving their store empty handed.
