Long time lurker here on BA (first post woot woot!). My sister and brother in law live in NY and are visiting for Christmas next week (I'm in Michigan). Ironically enough, I cannot for the life of me find any Founders Backwoods Bastard here and was wondering if there's much of it around NYC. It's by far my favorite beer and was hoping for any help in directing them to a place to pick up a bunch for me when they come here. Any help would be much appreciated!
According to beermenus.com: https://www.beermenus.com/beers/founders-backwoods-bastard-2014 the closest store to NYC is Cool Vines Jersey City. Hope that helps.
Another thing- I am still seeing BCBS in NYC, so if you want that it may be even easier for them to get.
4 cases of Backwoods at Monarch in Long Beach. From NYC, 45 min train directly to the station which is a 5 min walk from the store. They also have BCBS left, around 4 cases. If they have time its an easy trip and they could spend hours in our city by the sea doing other activities.
This isn't accurate. Here are Manhattan places listing they have it (including aforementioned Carmine): Carmine Street Beers · Beer Store 12oz. 4 Pack Bottles for $18.99 Bread & Honey · Beer Store 12oz. 4 Pack Bottles for $18.99 Broadway Dive · Bar 12oz. Bottle for $4.00
The problem is how horribly written BeerMenus is, there's multiple entries for every beer. You have to check the entries for "Backwoods Bastard 2014" and just "Backwoods Bastard". The latter shows the stores you mentioned, and more: https://www.beermenus.com/beers/founder-s-backwoods-bastard
A few weeks ago, Prospect Heights Beer Works had a bunch of cases in. I don't know what's still in stock or if you want to make the trip out to Brooklyn, but if you're that devoted, give them a call.
I was at Prospect Heights Beer Works yesterday and they still have 2-3 cases on the floor and some 4 packs in the cooler, $15.99 ETA: They also had a four pack of BCBS on the floor, not sure if they're keeping more in the back.
Woo hoo! He just texted me and said he got a case of backwoods! Thanks all... Now to send him on a "goose" chase.
