My friend was able to pick up 2 extra Backyard Rye in CT last night. I'm trying to help him trade them as he doesn't have an account. He wants some Cantillon. Does 2 pull a more recent St. Lam or LP Kriek? Is 2 more than fair for more recent vintages of those 2? How about LP Framboise? How much would need to be added to pull an older St. Lam or LP Kriek? I looked for some sort of "cantillon heirarchy" thread but couldn't find any. Any feedback appreciated, as I'm also curious myself for sure. Thanks, Justin
This thread is nearly two years old but it should probably still be pretty accurate. http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/standard-cantillon.20726/#post-250397
I have a feeling Backyard will trade like Bramble in a year or two when the berries fade a bit and really blend into the base beer like Bramble did. That said, there is a lot floating around FT right now so people are willing to give up multiple bottles. I'd say if you couldn't get a St. Lamvinus for two, you're damn close or wait for the right trader.
I can tell you that a 750ml of a basic loon (Kriek, Rose, Classic) will not typically be enough to pry a Cherry Rye from someone. Something like a bottle of Iris or Vignerrone may be and a bottle of St. Lam or a Lou Pepe definitely should be - the issue is that Cherry Rye is just getting more and more scarce so its value increases over time. I've posted a bunch of offers for the basic loons looking for Cherry Rye and gotten crickets. Backyard Rye there is still a lot of. I think you basically need to trade a Backyard Rye + 2 Coffee to get a Cherry. 2 Backyards would certainly trade for 1 Cherry I think. so, by my math 2 Backyards should be able to get you a Lou Pepe or St. Lam, yes. that's probably pretty fair for both sides I think. You could probably ask the Cantillon side to add in some locals to even up the $4$
I'd do 2 st lamv for two props, LP Kriek not so much. That beer was a limit of 3 at the brewery when it was there
