I think you inadvertently created the appearance of trying to take advantage of their 2 bottle limit and capitalize on your social media contact's generosity in giving you special treatment.

Regardless of your intent, in the context of what some people try to get away with on limited releases his reaction indicates his major disappointment at feeling someone tried to take advantage. Remember, that all he knows is that you had your 2 and some extra special treatment and then you asked for 2 more.

Misunderstanding? Sure. But that's how misunderstandings develop.

I think it's a tad bit of over reacting. I'm with him if I was walking out and and said "anyway can get a couple more bottles" he might have said yes he might have said no but to get blown up about it? really? it would have been different if he would have said "I know a guy who worked here you think you can hook me up" than yea that's just being a douche.

Huge Edit: if people were still standing in line for it than definitely disrespectful to ask, but then again what are mules for

@Givemebeer I was polite for sure and when he said no i said "ok no problem thank you" thats why i was blown away by his mssg. Now i dont know what his co worker said to him. He might have added on his end. If i knrw i was a jerk and was pushy. I would of never posted this thread.

Seems a bit greedy to me. You were given red carpet treatment and wanted that and then some. Be gracious, take/enjoy what is offered and try to be happy with that. The dude probably went overboard and extended you more than he was comfortable offering and on the tail end you asked for more.

I think from his reaction it's pretty much like @drtth posted above you: "hey, guys, let's cozy up to this dude and then maybe we'll get some insider treatment" is how he's seeing things. And people do react strongly when their sincere gesture is taken advantage of (in their own eyes). It may have been inadvertent, but that's what was triggered.

My main point, though, is that no matter what you really should be happy you got your two bottles and move on. If they truly were 'extra' then the brewery may have offered them up; if not then it is assumed they have plans for them. It's a question that should not have been considered.

I don't necessarily disagree with your points, but as someone who owns a small business in a niche special interest market, responding in that way is very poor business. If it went down like the OP said.

So.... the original poster receives a private tasting at the brewery and scores the maximum bottle limit of a beer, and this qualifies as a bad brewery trip?!?! If this is the case, I can't wait to experience what a good brewery trip brings.

Yeah- a cooling off period and a more measured response were warranted. And it's definitely better business to bite your tongue at times, no disagreements there. I guess I'm looking at that as more of a side issue, rather than the main one.

Yeah that title is misleading, because it sounds like you had a great trip. It sounds like the guy overreacted a bit, but you shouldn't let that define the whole trip. Just keep this experience in mind in the future. It was probably a bit inappropriate for you to ask them to bend the rules for you when they were already so nice to you. If I were you I would just send a polite apology message and hopefully he'll match with the same and everything will be cool.

You tried hustling something you shouldn't have and got called out for it.
Deal with it and call in the dogs. You got no fight on this.

Bottles were shared in the barrel room. Is this a public beer festival? A spade was called a spade. Not sure why all the butthurt.

Simple, You knew there was a limit therefore your "You never know until you ask right?"argument is invalid.
Scam was probably a poor word, you just got greedy plain and simple ( and it happens to the best of us). You were shown a good time and you got your two bottle limit that is when you should of sent the guy a message and thanked him for a great time but you were sad about the limit and only wished you could of purchased more.

Did you respond to him? It would be good to see the original message(s) to get a little more context.

There's more to the story, right? Hard to believe an innocent "can I buy two more bottles" resulted in such an outlash. If that's really all there is to the story, I agree with you: everything beyond "no" was an over reaction on one or more brewery employee's parts. Seriously: can any of us fault someone for simply asking if they can purchase additional bottles? Where's the harm? A wise man once told me: "If you don't ask, the answer is always no."

FWIW, if you are so pissed at this brewery you no longer wish to support them, I'll graciously trade you for both bottles. Shoot me a BM. I'm 99.9% confident I know the brewery to which you refer.

I parsed your message and... Huh.
So. You went outside of your people who you actually only know from social media, but ain't actually real life buds with, and then were expected to get the same treatment you were only just hoping to get from this social media "buddy?"
I'm calling b.s on this one.
Etiquette 101. Unless you're actually tight and preferably real life know someone.
    DON'T.
    Just, don't.
