I arranged my first trade with a fellow BA: a 4-pack of my Heady Topper for a 6-pack of his Zombie Dust. My shipment just arrived: only 4 ZD's were in the box plus 3 random bottles. I'm sure these other beers will be great but I'm not sure if I should be a bit pissed. Would this be considered a trade gone wrong/ bad trade?
Do you have a BM that spelled out the trade? When I make a trade I spell it out in the final BM that I give my Address in. IE Ok I will send you X Y AND Z for P D AND Q This way there is no room for error.
Yeah, it was in our second BM Thanks for the tip; I'll make sure to use that for all of my other trades.
I really like the 3sheeps personally though I am a little biased because they are out of my hometown. Very solid IPA.
Any chance something broke and the box was re-packed by the shipping company rather than returned/destroyed? That just happened with a box I received today. Also with one I shipped to myself from the west coast last week.
Those "random bottles" are known as extras. You send them with the already agreed upon bottles. Always send extras.
It was an honest mistake on his part; misread the second BM. He already sent out the other 2 ZD's. I'll be returning his box with some "extras"; I feel like a jerk for not doing so originally! I'm glad I learned proper BA etiquette. Cheers everyone!
Sounds like another case where both sides may have dove right in without understanding the in and outs of trading. Trade with experienced traders to learn the ropes, ship first, include those random beers, if communication lines are open don't post a thread like this, and if it warrants a thread like this, post a name Damn it.
