I've completed 16 trades through BA and this is my first time with a bad experience, so I was looking for some advice as to whether I should open a bad trader forum post or leave negative feedback. I initiated a trade with a user who has 70 completed trades and 100% positive feedback on 12/4. The trade was accepted and I had my box in the mail on 12/5. The other trader said he may not be able to send out until 12/9. Okay, no big deal. By 12/13 I still haven't heard anything so I ask for a status update. No response. I message again on 12/17 and get a response saying my package was received and that he got delayed but would be sending out by 12/19 for sure. 12/19 comes and goes and I don't hear anything so i message again on 12/23 asking again for an update. Now as of 12/25 I have still not received a response. I understand that things get in the way sometimes, but this seems like an excessive delay and that I am being ghosted. What should I do from here? Thanks
There is a pretty good chance that you are, in fact, going to end up in a bad trader position. That said, as many others on here are aware, I normally take a rather reserved approach, and I am going to take that position here as well. I would advise sending another note (today or tomorrow) indicating that if you do not here back by 4/5 January, that you’ll be posting a BT thread. If he does not reply by 2/3 Jan, send him one last reminder, then post it if he has not replied by 4/5. Two reasons for this. One is that we normally advise telling the person that you are going to be posting a BT thread. Sometimes it makes people come out of the wood-work. The second (for me) is that this is the holiday season AND other end of the year associates nonsense. I’ve been stupid busy Since Tday this year, especially with how late it occurred in 2019. I suspect others are too. While that is probably not the reason for this trader delaying, what’s the harm in waiting? We already assume you’re not going to get anything out of this. The only reason for haste (in my mind’s eye) is if you see the trader in question being very active on BA, and potentially opening new trades, OR they have other open trades. Also, if you have their cell or personal email, we normally suggest contacting them outside of BA. Sometimes life really does get in the way, and it’s hard to believe 1, 2, 3 or even 4 weeks have passed. A nudge can really help.
One more note telling them if they don’t respond and provide a valid tracking number you will be creating a bad trader thread and naming them.2 promises to ship and they didn’t and now no response at all. Did you try texting them?
Maybe letting us know what he’s up to like @Beer_Economicus said, any open/pending trades and any iso/ft threads since you agreed on a trade. If there’s been nothing since then go with patience, if he’s been active then get going with the bad trader post.
Hey guys, thanks for the advice. I didn't see any other open trades or forum posts which is what made me hesitant to open a bad trader forum. As luck would have it, I got a tracking number today, so all seems to be well. Thanks again for all the feedback.
Excellent! This is always the preferred outcome. As @Beer_Economicus intimated I think, this is an especially busy time of the year, and people can become overwhelmed with more than the ordinary everyday responsibilities and errands. It's unfortunate, but not terribly surprising that something like this can occur. Just glad everything worked out OK in the end for you.
