Bad Trader Alert - GopherPharmer

    This is the first time I have had to do this and I hate doing but at this point I feel that He isn't going to fulfill his end of the trade.

    In early August I made contact with GopherPharmer about setting up a pre-trade For Darkness 13. The trade was for a bottle of BASS and a Viet for 3 bottles of Darkness upon release. Also during our Conversation he stated that he would send out a Box of Surly shelf (I'm guessing just out of thanks for doing a pre-trade) in which I didn't have to send anything for. He sent out the box of Surly which was great, I sent out my BASS and VIet around the 1st of September. He told me he got the box around the middle of September and that arrived with no issues. I had also asked him in that email if he was interested in a trading for some WET, to which he was very short with me and simply stated no. I emailed him on the 27th of OCT asking how Darkness Day went, no response. Every attempt to make contact has been futile. He does not respond to any of my messages. Also text messages have gone unanswered.

    He had a pretty extensive trading history on his profile page and numerous trade partners had no issues with him. Maybe he has something going on, but to not even get a reply is frustrating.

    I did a trade with him a little while back, everything went great and he sent some good extras. Sorry to hear about that maybe he has something going on

    Yea, I asked another guy as well and everything went fine. It's just odd. I ran into some serious health issues last winter and i took a while to get a trade out, but i never ice'd the guy. I always responded. Frustrating to say the least.

    Really surprising. Completed a good trade w him back in September. Good luck OP hope this is resolved.

    Got an email from him in early December. Basically stated that I forgot to ship extras(which I did) he was mad. He told me if I wanted my beers back he could do that, or send me the darkness. Obviously haven't heard from him since. He also was very offended if throw up a bad trader post. Doesn't look like I'll get my beers, and seeing his activity I'm sure he made another account, as he is still active on untappd. BEWARE!

    Extras are...........Extras. Unless there was something discussed about a specific extra, then that's life.

    Hopefully EliSpitzner can get this resolved for you. Otherwise, this looks to be a bad trader and I appreciate the heads up.

    Yea, It wasn't discussed but I honestly just forgot. I had been sending out 4 packages that day and got rushed. I told him he could have said something. Rather than stealing my beer. It is what is. $50 isn't the worst thing to happen. Just principle.

    Finally got a tracking # from this guy. Called me a bad trader because I didn't send him any extras. Then, did what any good established trader would do. Shipped the 3 bottles of Darkness from St. Paul with a low of -17. Crossing fingers.

    Damn. Good luck with that.. it'll probably warm up en-route? I'll never understand why people get upset over extras.. especially as how extras are defined on BA. Its another example of people trying to win, receiving good extras is just another layer on the "winning" cake. I try to include good extras when I can, sometimes I'm rushed or am unable to go out and pick up interesting locals- I'll still do my best to extra stuff the other guy hasn't had before assuming we didn't agree upon no extras.

    I was rushed and honestly forgot. I sent out 3 boxes and was trying to beat the FedEx truck. It is what is. Nothing I can do about it now. It's not like I'll get replacements if the end up leaking / breaking from freezing.

    If its your first time trading with a new person it is best to discuss extras before finalizing the trade in order to avoid these issues. If anything, be sure to ask what styles they prefer or don't prefer. I'd hate to extra somebody a brew they won't enjoy

    I agree completely, no idea why people blow up over extras. There have been a couple situations brought up in this forum as of late that seem to stem from lack of extras which is crazy to me considering agreed upon trades sound like they were fufilled. It all washes out in the end the way I see it, a couple times I have sent more/higher quality extras than I received and just as many times (if not more!) that I have been completely outdone and blown away with the extras I received.

    What a tool. Lack of extras is no reason to renege on a trade. Then ships in -17??

    As others have said, extras should be just that: extra (i.e. a nice bonus, but definitely not expected as part of the trade). If the extras are that important, do a BIF instead.

    Yea, nothing I can do now besides wait. I'll be at SFBEERWEEK when it gets to my house so my GF will have to give me the good or bad news.

    Yes, he called me the bad trader because we setup a pre trade for darkness in which I shipped first... The best part is when he replied to me saying that he wasn't going to go out of his way to "hook me up."
