So I did a trade in early August with Newkidroundhere and things went great. He responded to another ISO of mine and we quickly agreed on a 2 for 2. I shipped my end on 9/4 and the I got the "sick kid, couldn’t ship" excuse on 9/5. He then completely disappeared from BA until 9/25.

I then got the "I’ve traded too much and don’t have the $12 to ship your box, give me until next month" excuse. So I go on vacation and get back 10/12 and I get the "I promise to ship your box tomorrow with an extra Prairie Bomb for the delay" line and still no box.

I then get the "No problem to ship your box on 10/21 or 10/22" line and still no box.
Now I haven’t heard from the guy since the 19th and he’s not logged on since the 24th. I posted the story on Ratebeer, and here is the response I got from another trusted member...

Just confirmed I had an experience with the same guy. Those of you who are better at using the advanced search can probably find my post from the end of September about an incomplete trade.
I agreed to a trade with the same guy that involved bomb, wine barrel noir, and some extras.
I got tracking for two boxes but they got separated. The Wine Barrel Noir and extras showed up but the other box was undeliverable (he told me damaged in transit).
He promised to make it right but I got the same sick kid story and then the same I don't have the money story.
He said he would send me a pirate bomb for the inconvenience but I haven't heard from him in about 2 weeks.
Fortunately for me I never sent any beer so I didn't get screwed.

So I'm out about $40 in beer and $12 in shipping. Looks like this guy is trying to make a habit of stealing beer from people and not completing his end of trades. I figured I'd let the rest of the community know that you should probably think twice about trading with him.

I'd like to think that he will still make this right, and I'm happy to give him the opportunity to do so. If he does, I will gladly update this thread with a positive outcome.

It's sad that this guy works in the beer industry to screw people out of beers. I hope it's just a blip and things get worked out.

Here is my experience with Newkidroundhere which I posted on Ratebeer for advice. Like Ksurkin I was told that he couldn't ship due to having various problems including a sick child and no money for shipping. I haven't been screwed out of any beer but the agreed upon trade has not been completed. I hope that these posts will encourage Newkidroundhere to at the very least make good on his trade with ksurkin.

I am going to start by saying this incident didn’t occur on Ratebeer. I agreed to a trade with a new trader that only had one successful trade. The traded started with prairie bomb but we expanded a bit to include some other beers so we weren’t both sending 1 beer.

It took a number of weeks for him to ship missing his own deadlines on more than one occasion but ultimately I ended up getting tracking numbers. When I questioned the multiple tracking numbers he informed he didn’t have a big enough box so he used two smaller boxes. The boxes got separated and the one with extras and one of the beers we expanded to showed up on a Friday. On Saturday the 2nd box was on the truck for delivery but was apparently damaged. It took a while to sort it out with the shipping company (he handled everything) but according to the shipping company the box was a total loss.

The trader reached out to me and told me what happened and explained that he only had 3 Bomb’s left. Since the original trade included 4 Bomb’s he asked if he could send the 3 Bomb’s along with some other extras for the inconvenience. I told him that was fine with me. It has been about 3 or 4 weeks and while I have had some contact there hasn’t been anything in the last 10-15 days and he didn’t respond to my most recent message.

I have not shipped any portion from my end because I was waiting to receive everything on his end. Since the trade was initiated for Bomb but was expanded and I did receive one of the bottles should I send him a partial box?

I just wanted some opinions from people on here to help me decide how to handle this situation.

Looks like @Newkidroundhere has you as a trade reference, I imagine he would definitely do that trade again

So is he really a beer, wine and spirits wholesale rep? If so, I'm sure that you could possibly find his workplace via Google and try to contact him through his company number. May be a place to start.

I never had an issue with him in the two trades we competed but he did mention not having $$ due to a major tax problem.he said many times he would like to trade more with me but again he doesn't have the coin. Never got screwed by the guy personally

Sarcasm aside, I have never seen anyone on this site (Moderator's included) say that.

Even if we give him the benefit of the doubt and say maybe he isn't out to steal beer. It sounds like even without the sick kid this guy may just be too broke to be trading beer. Plenty of us are on limited budgets and have to stay within our means.

    You are kidding right?

Plenty of times people have talked about calling someones work or posting on their family's facebook pages to find out why beer has not been shipped and people have brought up the privacy issue.

Those threads just get deleted quickly.

I'd think this was rather obvious but if you can't spare $12, you shouldn't be trading

Good rule of thumb would be to take the value of the box you are sending and double it. Don't have that much money? Then wait. No guarantees with shipping.

I must have missed them, but if so that's bs. Reach out any way possible, just don't make threats or be rude.

ksurkin is a good trader & this is headed off the rails...but hey, it keeps the thread towards the top of the forum, so that's good!

If we want to talk about the limits of what you should do to try to contact a thief, it's been debated previously ad nauseum. I'm with Photekut. A trader stole beer? Or maybe your wallet? Then you don't want the victim to be "rude"? That's not how things work in my world.

My point about being rude was when addressing a 3rd party, not the thief themselves. I apologize for my vagueness.

If I can clarify...the problem is when personal information (phone numbers, addresses, social media accounts) is posted publicly. That is not allowed and will get deleted. Likewise, threatening tar and pitchfork mobs to hunt people down is frowned upon.

To those that like to parse things out endlessly, that's not an all-inclusiive list of what will or will not get deleted. It's a guideline.

And, not directed any any one poster, but...

There are plenty of ways (for better or worse) to go about finding/contacting your trade partner outside of BA. Use your best judgment when doing so and realize that there may be blowback/negative consequences if you go too far. Once you sacrifice your internet anonymity, it's a different ball game.

Every trade and every trade partner is different. There's no one way to handle them all. There's risk involved in every trade.

By no means did I try to screw anyone out of beer here or anywhere else. I am merely having a tough financial time recently. I have addressed this with ksurkin in a BM. Anyone ever have something come up that was unexpected and way beyond your capability to handle in a timely fashion? Sorry but this trade was sent down the priority list. I am working on something to handle this and the other 2 outstanding trades I have. The other two just didnt send their beer first.

I apologize to all parties involved. I also have not been logged into BA for a while and had no way to answer several BMs regarding this situation. Hopefully I will jot be on the bad trader list for a scenario I am trying to correct but just didnt happen due to several different circumstances.
