Bad Trader: BarofGold

    I recently "completed" a trade with @BarofGold (I would tag him but his account is removed). I sent him a trade request after coming to an agreement. (he didn't accept right away, didn't really think anything of it). He told me that he'd get out his box on Monday the 15th (which is when I also agreed to send it/did send it out). After sending out the box and giving him a tracking number he told me this.

    Barofgold "Good deal man! Ill have yours out within 24hrs, sorry for the delay. Ill follow up shortly! Cheers"

    I in turn replied...

    JamesH "Looks like your package will get there on Monday (22nd). So if you send it out today it should get to me by Tuesday. Wednesday by Wednesday... But I doubt it will get to me by Thursday if you send it out on Thursday seeing as Thursday is Christmas."

    Barofgold "Ok, ill push for today!!"

    JamesH "Sounds good Anthony"

    Barofgold "Going out now!" - Tuesday the 16th

    I thought nothing of it, everything seemed well.

    A couple days later and no tracking number is sent.

    It's now Monday and I haven't received anything from him and the trade request has still not been accepted. Prior to this I looked him up and saw that he had a 98% trade rating with one BAD and one OKAY but he had quite a bit of trades and he was very easy to deal with. I assumed that he had one mistake and gave him the benefit of the doubt.... I go to check his account and it is now REMOVED... So i decide to text him and see if I can reach him that way and the number comes back as false.

    He should be receiving his package today and if he did indeed send his package out on Tuesday than I should be receiving it tomorrow... I have fed ex notifications and didn't receive a notification about a package being sent to me. It is possible that he sent UPS in which case I would just never know...

    But his account has been removed and the number that he gave me for trading was not a real number. So I am definitely a bit worried.

    Anyone know how I should proceed?

    Stop the package if you can and have it sent back to you?

    That may be premature but it may be your last chance of not totally losing out here...maybe the mods can chime in on whether he removed his account or if he was banned. @blue-dream ?

    Not sure why, he might have shut down his own account. Only @Todd can see that.

    I put a cancel and return to sender out via Fed Ex but it's already on the truck and has a good chance of being delivered today so I doubt that it will be making it back to me unfortunately.

    If you press them on the phone, they have ways of contacting the driver on their cell phone if you really want to try to stop this package from being delivered. I'm not sure what you send in that box but if it's valuable to you, might be worth a try.

    The freight forwarder should be able to re-route the package even if its out for delivery.

    He's a VT guy so maybe tag/reach out to some of the prominent VT posters/traders to see if they know him, have a valid phone #, etc., or hopefully some of them see this and can chime in about him.

    Well he's a VT trader but was currently live in California. He said he was moving back to VT at some point early next year. But idk if any of his trades are valid at this point. I'm just going to try to push to get my package back and take my losses in shipping $$

    Wow...this is crazy. He and I traded a few times in early 2014 and when I was in VT in April, my wife and I had dinner with him and his girlfriend. Really a great guy in my experiences. Sad to see that this is going on. Sorry to hear it, OP.

    Was able to have fed ex call the actual office that associates with the truck that is involved with the delivery. They are contacting the driver. Keeping my fingers crossed...

    If you met up with him, you may have gotten in touch by phone? If so, that means you had a valid number. If so, maybe share that with @JamesH in a PM to see if they are the same number.
